Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 33

Chapter 33: The Troublemaker Returns

Rong Yu's handsome face froze for a moment, and it wasn’t until he stuffed the piece of meat in his hand into his mouth, chewed it several times, and swallowed it that he finally processed what was said.

"Brother Yin, are you signing me?"

"Yes. Have you already signed with another company?" Yin Chengjue propped his chin on his hand as he looked at him.

"N-no!" Rong Yu shook his head, his expression turning a little aggrieved. "I thought Brother Yin just came out to have hot pot with me. I didn’t realize you had another job on the side."

Yin Chengjue raised a finger and wagged it in front of Rong Yu’s face. "You’ve got it backward. Signing you is my main job. The hot pot is the side gig."

Rong Yu’s eyes suddenly lit up. "So that means I’m the boss of your side gig, right?"

Yin Chengjue picked up a large bunch of enoki mushrooms and piled them into Rong Yu’s bowl. "Just eat."

By the time they finished the meal, Yin Chengjue’s mood had improved significantly. When they parted ways, Rong Yu said he wanted to go back and think it over carefully, promising to give him an answer within three days.

Yin Chengjue didn’t expect Rong Yu to agree immediately—after all, he needed time to evaluate Huansheng Entertainment.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye. Yin Chengjue didn’t receive Rong Yu’s reply, but he did get news that his troublemaker of a friend had returned to the country.

The second young master of the Qin family had fallen in love with photography in high school. Despite his family’s objections, he majored in film and photography in college. Though he attended the same university as Yin Chengjue, their campuses were on opposite ends—one in the east, the other in the west—so even as classmates, they rarely saw each other.

Add to that the fact that this idiot was always running around with his camera, elusive as the wind, making him nearly impossible to pin down.

After graduating, he went off to travel the world, determined to capture the most beautiful scenery. Most of the places he visited had terrible reception, so it wasn’t unusual for them to go weeks with only a few exchanged messages.

Yin Chengjue scrolled up through his latest chat with Second Young Master Qin, which contained the message: "Juezi, I’m coming back! Flight lands at noon on the 20th! Come pick me up!" The last message before that was from a month ago—a photo of the Amazon rainforest from above, captioned: "Juezi, I’m off to embrace the most beautiful forest!"

If the Qin family found out their young master had gone to such a dangerous place during the rainy season just to take photos, Old Master Qin would probably hire an army of mercenaries to drag him back.

"Juezi-zi-zi-zi-zi~" A demonic voice called out from behind as a figure lunged at him. Yin Chengjue dodged to the side, leaving the person to crash face-first onto the ground in a frog-like sprawl.

"Ow! How could you do this? Is this how you treat a brother you haven’t seen in so long?" Second Young Master Qin complained indignantly.

"The fact that I didn’t immediately notify your dad or your older brother is the greatest respect I could show our friendship," Yin Chengjue said, eyeing his two large suitcases before reluctantly pulling one along.

"Juezi, let me stay with you for a few days! I’ll leave soon, I swear! If I go home, they’ll never let me go again. I can’t let them clip my wings of freedom!" Second Young Master Qin clasped his hands together, widening his puppy-dog eyes, his entire face pleading.

"My place isn’t suitable for guests right now." Knowing Second Young Master Qin had been out of the loop in those remote places, Yin Chengjue briefly explained the recent events.

"Damn! What a scumbag! Auntie Yin is beautiful, talented, capable, and kind—where else could you find a woman like that?" Second Young Master Qin fumed.

Yin Chengjue gave him a strange look. "What? After all these years, you finally see your chance to compete for the role of my stepdad?"

Second Young Master Qin’s eyes widened. "How could you think that? Though I won’t lie, the idea of you calling me ‘Dad’ sounds pretty great, but I’d like to live a little longer and enjoy my freedom. No thanks to an early death!"

Yin Chengjue parked at a hotel, handed Second Young Master Qin and his luggage over to the bellhop, then stuffed a pre-prepared room key into his pocket.

"Presidential suite. Absolute privacy. You’re welcome." He patted his shoulder.

Second Young Master Qin’s expression was like that of an abandoned cabbage, his eyes full of betrayal as he watched Yin Chengjue walk away without hesitation.

"Hey, wait!" Second Young Master Qin sprinted over and clung to Yin Chengjue’s car window. "Before I boarded my flight, I heard some people in the group chat talking about how Feng Chengda’s company and the Murong family’s business are competing for a piece of land. At the time, I thought it was the Yin Group, but now that you’ve told me Feng Chengda’s been cut off, that means it’s his own company fighting for it, right?"

Yin Chengjue paused, his hand hovering over the ignition. "Land? Where?"

"Uh, I don’t know the specifics, just that it’s a thing. You should look into it—might be useful. Honestly, I wasn’t paying attention to the land. I was more interested in the fact that the Murong family’s youngest son ran away from home." Second Young Master Qin’s face lit up with admiration. "Apparently, he had a huge fight with Old Man Murong, single-handedly took down his two older brothers, then climbed over the wall and bolted."

Though Yin Chengjue wasn’t particularly interested in gossip, he couldn’t help but ask, "Didn’t the second son of the Murong family join the military five years ago?"

Second Young Master Qin thought about his own older brother and guessed, "Probably went easy on him. At the end of the day, it’s his little brother—he wouldn’t dare go all out."

Yin Chengjue: "Oh."

Still clinging to the window, Second Young Master Qin waggled his eyebrows. "Hey! Aren’t you gonna ask why the fierce Murong third son ran away? That’s the juiciest part!"

Yin Chengjue glanced at his hand, realizing this guy wouldn’t let go of his car until he indulged him. With a sigh, he obliged: "Why?"

Second Young Master Qin grinned. "Because he came out of the closet!"

  1. Oh please don’t tell me Murong is another name of the ML? That really would be too cliche…
