Chapter 100
As soon as the entrance of the cave was blocked, the cave was immediately filled with a strong, pungent smell of blood. The moment Tang Yu caught a whiff of the blood, he felt his stomach was churning like boiling waves. He quickly let go of the female and turned away, retching.
Rui La hurried over to check the injured female’s hand. Tang Yu’s decisiveness earlier had truly frightened them. However, given the situation at the time, if Tang Yu hadn’t acted so decisively, the female would likely have been torn to pieces by now.
The commotion was loud and immediately alerted Ed, who was guarding the front of the cave. Ed quickly ran to the back and saw the wild beasts nearby, as well as the torn remains of a female on the ground.
Ed’s expression changed drastically. He immediately transformed into his beast form and dealt with the wild beasts lingering nearby. Then, he inspected the small entrance that had been blocked from the inside. Seeing that the entrance was too small to allow anything larger than a female to pass through, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Even if the entrance hadn’t been blocked, the wild beasts wouldn’t have been able to break in. As long as the females inside didn’t run out on their own, there shouldn’t be any problems.
It seemed that the earlier screams had come from a female who had recklessly run out and was discovered by the surrounding beasts.
“Stay inside and don’t run around. They can’t get in,” Ed shouted into the cave. After hearing a response from inside, he turned to survey the area.
Ed caught the scent of other females. It seemed more than one or two had ran out. He had to find them before something terrible happened.
As if to confirm Ed’s fears, a sharp, piercing scream came from not far away.
Ed immediately dashed toward the sound and saw a female wailing as he ran forward, a red-eyed beast following closely a female. The beast wasn’t particularly fast, which was why the female hadn’t been caught yet.
Ed pounced, quickly catching up to the red-eyed beast. With a few vicious bites, he killed it.
The female, upon seeing Ed, didn’t even wait for him to transform back before he scrambled over and clung to him. Tears streaming down his face, he was clearly terrified.
Ed grabbed him and turned to head back.
“Tang Yu, move the rocks blocking the entrance,” Ed called from outside. After a long pause, the rocks slowly shifted aside.
A small, thin female hunched over and peeked out. When he saw the female beside Ed, he suddenly muttered resentfully, “If it weren't for them, Mei Ai wouldn’t have lost his hand.”
Ed didn’t understand what he meant, but he had too much to do and didn’t press further.
Ed pushed the female into the cave, and after they blocked the entrance again, he rushed off to look for the others.
Mei Ai was the female who had lost his hand. He had acted out of kindness, trying to help someone outside, but it had nearly cost him his life.
The small, thin female happened to be Mei Ai’s friend, not a particularly close one, but seeing Mei Ai’s tragic state still made him feel awful.
Facing those who had willingly gone outside and caused so much trouble, the others in the cave couldn’t help but feel a sense of resentment.
The female who had been wailing earlier immediately quieted down upon entering the cave, his cries becoming weak and subdued. Perhaps sensing the others’ unhappiness, he didn’t dare cause any more trouble and quietly curled up in a corner.
Soon, Ed returned again. This time, he brought back two people, a female and a young orc.
About half of those who had run out were still missing. Ed had only found three so far. Aside from the one who had died at the entrance, there were still a few unaccounted for.
However, after searching the area, Ed couldn't find anyone else. Those who were missing had either hidden themselves or had already been devoured by the beasts.
Ed sternly warned them not to run off again. The others quickly murmured their agreement.
Ed then asked about Tang Yu’s condition, and Rui La replied, “He’s a bit exhausted, but he’ll be fine after some rest.”
Ed sighed. The current situation was a headache. There weren’t many orcs left, and most of them were injured. If things continued like this, they would soon be overwhelmed. Ed suddenly felt at a loss.
The giant serpent was covered in blood, whether it was his own or the beasts’, it was hard to tell. His crimson eyes seemed to glow with a bloody light.
The rain grew heavier, and the sounds of the downpour, the beasts’ roars, and the orcs’ growls intertwined, creating a terrifying cacophony.
The giant serpent swayed slightly, his blood-soaked eyes coldly scanning the surrounding beasts. The eyes of the orc no longer held their usual vitality.
It felt as though the soul within the body had been replaced by another.
Su Yi suddenly opened his eyes. Normally calm and composed, he now looked panicked and uneasy.
Su Yi suddenly opened his eyes. Normally calm and composed, he now looked panicked and uneasy.
Su Yi gently patted his chest, feeling inexplicably frightened and uncomfortable. After lying still for a while, he suddenly noticed something out of the corner of his eye, something that only existed in his original world. Su Yi was completely stunned.
He stared at the crystal chandelier above him for a long time before realizing something.
Where is this?
“Hey, Captain Su Yi! How did you fall asleep so quickly?” Dong Xiaoxiao waved her hand in front of Su Yi’s face. Su Yi quickly sat up and looked around.
They were in a luxurious living room. Sitting on the sofa were his former teammates. Dong Xiaoxiao, with a smile on her face, picked a large apple from the fruit bowl on the table and tossed it to Su Yi.
Su Yi caught the apple but was still confused.
“Captain, what’s wrong with you?” Dong Xiaoxiao asked.
“I… wasn’t I shot?” Su Yi began to wonder. Hadn’t he been shot and then reborn?
Dong Xiaoxiao paused, then walked over and touched Su Yi’s forehead. “Captain, are you okay? That happened half a year ago.”
Half a year ago?
Su Yi shuddered and looked around again in disbelief. Half a year ago? Had his journey of transmigration and rebirth all been a dream?
But the dream had felt so real.
“You must be groggy from sleep. Get up, we still have a mission!” Dong Xiaoxiao laughed and walked over, pulling Su Yi to his feet. Suddenly, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on the forehead.
Su Yi immediately pulled away, looking at her in shock.
Dong Xiaoxiao’s smile faded, and she glared at him with wide eyes. “Hmph, what’s with that look? We’re practically an old married couple…”
Old married couple? Su Yi shook his head. “Xiaoxiao, are you mistaken about something?”
