Chapter 136: So Scared
Wei Shu and Hua Yun, who had accidentally witnessed the entire event through the camera: "…"
Yin Chengjue, who heard Wei Shu's live narration: "…"
After a few seconds of processing, Yin Chengjue said decisively: "You didn't record it, did you? Can you pretend you didn't see what you just saw?"
Wei Shu: "No way! You just want to pretend you didn't see it? You only heard me describe it, you didn't see his moves! They were nothing like how he presented himself before!"
After Wei Shu said the fight had started, Yin Chengjue had sped all the way in. But this abandoned toy factory was very large, with many workshops and piles of discarded items everywhere, forcing him to take many detours. By the time he arrived, Wei Shu was already shouting in his earpiece that it was over.
Yin Chengjue didn't drive his car close. Instead, he parked far away and approached the workshop quietly on foot, peering through a crack in the wall to stare intently at Rong Yu, who was standing amidst a group of people.
Seeing Rong Yu was safe, Yin Chengjue's heart settled.
A voice in his head told him not to approach at this moment.
Because Rong Yu was currently pulling up each of the thoroughly thrashed burly men one by one. From his actions, he seemed to be ordering them to stand at attention. If anyone's legs went weak and they fell, Rong Yu would sweep a kick at them.
Soon, a group of bruised and swollen men stood crookedly, their faces full of misery. From a distance, Rong Yu's scolding could be heard: "Didn't you eat? Stand properly! Stand straight!"
After this round of scolding, Rong Yu sat back down on the chair, picked up the rope thrown on the ground, and tied himself to the chair.
Wei Shu, watching this through the camera: "…"
Yin Chengjue silently and lightly walked back to his car parked in the distance, restarted it, and drove over. This time, he deliberately made a lot of noise and even pressed the car lock button.
Wei Shu's voice came faintly through Yin Chengjue's earpiece: "You'd better hurry inside. I think those kidnappers are about to break and won't be able to keep up with Rong Yu's act anymore."
Yin Chengjue quickly walked into the workshop and saw a group of burly men standing there like stones, holding iron rods. If one looked closely, one could see their hands holding the rods were trembling slightly, and their legs were shaking too.
They looked like they could collapse and lose consciousness at any moment.
"D-did you bring the money?" The scar-faced man's voice wasn't as fierce as it had been on the phone, it even carried a hint of a sob.
Yin Chengjue: "…I brought it. I need to confirm he's safe first."
The corner of the scar-faced man's mouth twitched. He said faintly, "He couldn't be better."
Yin Chengjue: "I need to see for myself. We exchange the person for the money, that was the agreement. If I see anything wrong with him…"
Scar-Faced Man: "He's inside. We'll go out to check the money, you go in to see him. That's fair, right?"
"Brother!" Rong Yu's voice came from inside.
Yin Chengjue saw several kidnappers nearly kneel on the spot in fright at the sound.
Yin Chengjue: "…" He turned his head, pretending not to see.
Rong Yu said: "Brother, save me!"
"Xiao Yu!" Even though he knew Rong Yu was fine now, hearing his cry for help still made Yin Chengjue's heart clench. Thinking of Rong Yu fighting so many people alone earlier, he might have gotten bruised or hurt somewhere. Yin Chengjue's gaze towards the kidnappers turned even colder.
"The money is in the car. The keys are here. I don't care if you drive the car away or transfer the money to your own vehicle, suit yourselves." Yin Chengjue didn't waste another word. He simply raised the car keys and hurled them far into the distance.
The kidnappers' eyes instinctively followed the trajectory of the keys. The temptation of money ultimately bolstered their willpower. One person rushed to grab the keys, others unwillingly followed, and some simply ran to check the car.
In short, they all had only one thought in their minds—to get as far away as possible from that plague god tied to the chair behind them! The faster, the better!
Meanwhile, Yin Chengjue quickly rushed to Rong Yu's side, pulled a dagger hidden in his sleeve, and cut the ropes binding Rong Yu.
"Did they hurt you? Are you injured anywhere?" In one swift motion, Yin Chengjue swept Rong Yu up into his arms, cradling him tightly against his chest.
"Brother, I was so scared!" Rong Yu said pitifully, wrapping his arms around Yin Chengjue's neck.
Wei Shu, who heard these words from Yin Chengjue's hidden earpiece and mic: "…"
Yin Chengjue gently patted Rong Yu's back: "There, there, don't be afraid. I'm here now, it's okay. Leave the rest to me."
Wei Shu: "Hey! Can you two show a little respect for the kidnappers? I'm not on the scene, but I can guess they haven't gone far yet, right? Aren't you afraid they'll take the money and then come back to kill you?"
Yin Chengjue: "That would be perfect. I'd like to beat them up some more."
Tears welled in the corners of Rong Yu's eyes as he raised his index finger to Yin Chengjue. "Brother, my finger is injured. They ripped off my fingernail. It hurts so much!"
Yin Chengjue looked down and saw Rong Yu's bloody index finger, now missing its nail.
Yin Chengjue's eyes sharpened: "When did this happen!"
"Duh, of course it happened during the fight! And while he was taking on a whole group by himself," Wei Shu's voice drifted in faintly.
Yin Chengjue completely ignored Wei Shu's sarcastic remark, gently held Rong Yu's still-bleeding finger, and took two band-aids from his pocket.
"Brother…" Rong Yu moved his finger near Yin Chengjue's lips.
Yin Chengjue quickly opened the band-aids and stuck them on Rong Yu's bleeding finger, saying gently, "Let's use this to keep the dust out for now. We'll go to the hospital immediately to disinfect and properly bandage it. Bear with it a little longer."
"Mmm, okay."
Yin Chengjue's gaze shifted to the mobile phone placed to the side.
It was the one a kidnapper had intended to use to record some compromising videos of Rong Yu. It had been positioned there earlier and, despite the chaos that had unfolded, was still steadfastly recording.
Only then did Rong Yu notice the phone that was still recording. His face instantly changed color.
But he saw Yin Chengjue stride quickly over, pick up the phone, and crush it with his bare hand.
Crack!
The phone screen instantly went black, covered in spider-web cracks.
Rong Yu, whose heart had been in his throat, secretly breathed a sigh of relief and asked with feigned confusion, "Brother?"
"It's nothing. I just don't want to leave behind anything that could be used against you," Yin Chengjue said calmly.
Although it felt long, only about five minutes had passed from when Yin Chengjue untied Rong Yu to when he destroyed the phone. The kidnappers who had rushed into the car hadn't even finished counting the money yet.
What Yin Chengjue found even more ridiculous was that these kidnappers had actually assigned a few people to keep a wary eye on them, not as if they wanted to do something to the pair, but more like they were afraid the pair would do something to them... Well, to be precise, afraid that Rong Yu would do something to them.
Yin Chengjue took a step forward while holding Rong Yu, and they nervously shuffled several steps back.
Seeing this, Yin Chengjue couldn't help but look down at Rong Yu.
Rong Yu blinked, looking utterly innocent.
Yin Chengjue set Rong Yu down and said gently, "I just remembered something. Wait here for a moment, I'll be right back."
Having said that, Yin Chengjue picked up an iron rod that had fallen on the ground.
Seeing Yin Chengjue casually twirling an iron rod as he walked towards them, the kidnappers immediately looked wary: "What do you think you're doing? Tired of living? We're sparing your lives, isn't that enough? You're asking for death by coming to us?"
"He's injured," Yin Chengjue said coldly.
Scar-faced man: "Hah? Are you kidding me!"
Yin Chengjue: "His lip is bleeding, his finger is bleeding. So…"
Yin Chengjue tightened his grip on the iron rod and charged at the scar-faced man!
Ten minutes later.
Yin Chengjue kicked aside the scar-faced man lying on the road, carried Rong Yu to the car, and then walked back to the swollen-faced scarred man. Slowly, he finished his sentence: "I need to take him to the hospital for bandaging. I can't let you have this car anymore."
Yin Chengjue drove off swiftly, heading straight for the hospital. Rong Yu sat in the passenger seat, rubbing his temples.
Yin Chengjue asked nervously: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"
Rong Yu seemed somewhat troubled, holding his head and thinking for a while: "Brother, I feel like I've forgotten something."
Yin Chengjue: "What is it? Is it important?"
Rong Yu: "Mmm, I just can't remember. It seems like it was pretty important."
Yin Chengjue freed one hand to rub Rong Yu's head: "If you can't remember, then it can't be that important."
Rong Yu thought about it and felt that made sense.
Ten minutes later, dust rose again at the abandoned toy factory. Amidst the dust, several military-green trucks rumbled in, coming to a stop in relatively open areas, parking in neat rows.
Once the vehicles stopped, the rear truck flaps immediately opened on both sides. Groups of people, one after another, quickly and orderly jumped down, forming neat horizontal and vertical lines on the open ground beside the vehicles with sharp, precise movements.
A man with a crew cut stepped down from the passenger seat of the lead vehicle. He was tall and well-built, with strong arms, broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and thick, powerful legs.
The man stood on the open ground, his eyes scanning the surroundings. He quickly noticed the workshop with the messy footprints and hooked a finger behind him.
The people lined up immediately followed him quickly.
However, when they arrived at the workshop entrance, they were met with a scene of utter disarray—men lay strewn about, bruised and swollen, moaning in agony.
The man's sharp eyes swept around the dark workshop. "Where is he?" he barked.
A chorus of moans came from the ground, no one answered him immediately.
The man stepped on the hand of the nearest person and shouted, "I'm asking you, where did that brat go? Weren't you supposed to have caught him?"
The person he stepped on happened to be the scar-faced man. In even more pain now, he said tearfully, "He's gone! He already left!"
The man: "Useless trash! Can't even keep watch on one person, and you try your hand at ransom! What's the point of wanting money like this! Do you have any professional ethics at all!"
Scar-faced man: "…" Wait, aren't our employers someone else?
