My Fulang is a Delicate Flower Chapter 116 Part 1

Chapter 116 Extra: Matters of the Big Family (2)

The morning wind seemed to blow into the room, the window curtains gently sweeping.

Ji Taoyu was particularly sensitive to temperature changes, although still asleep, he spontaneously felt a chill.

He instinctively wanted to move a little closer to the side, but before he could shift, an arm slipped under his neck, encircling his shoulders and back, pulling him into an embrace.

Ji Taoyu immediately felt much warmer. Pressed against the solid chest, he smelled the soapy scent, warmed by body heat.

"Why is it so cold?"

Huo Shu heard the muffled mutter from the person in his arms. He had thought about getting up to close the window, but Ji Taoyu was already holding onto his waist and abdomen, and getting up now would let the cold in again.

So he could only reach out and pull the bed curtains tighter: "I forgot to close the window last night."

Last night, the two of them had been like a sudden storm and rain, moving from the room to the bed in a frenzy.

After he fetched water to wash Ji Taoyu's body, it was already past midnight. He tucked him into the quilt, but Ji Taoyu held onto his clothes and wouldn't let go, so he didn't even close the window.

Ji Taoyu lifted his head from Huo Shu's embrace. Opening his bleary eyes, he met a pair of clear, bright ones.

"Why are you awake so early?"

"Need to go to the training ground."

Huo Shu brushed aside a strand of hair stuck to Ji Taoyu's cheek and said softly.

Ji Taoyu suddenly remembered: the soldiers in the military camp needed morning training. Actually, there were layers of supervisors, but if the commander went to inspect personally, the soldiers' morale would be higher.

Huo Shu hadn't been in his new position for very long, so he naturally had to devote more effort to management.

Previously, if he had no urgent duties, he went every day to report at the morning roll call. After this trip to the capital, he hadn't been there for many days, so of course he needed to go check on the military camp.

He raised his head a bit to look towards the window, the sky outside hadn't shown any light yet.

Since it was the fifth lunar month, the sky brightened early. Yet, judging by the light, it was likely only wugeng (3-5 AM).

"It's still early."

Huo Shu agreed. He gathered Ji Taoyu's slender arms in his embrace: "So I can still sleep with you for a while longer."

Ji Taoyu felt warm and full in his heart, nuzzling against Huo Shu's chest.

"Come back early around noon. I'll go to the morning market later to buy some fresh vegetables and meat."

Huo Shu said: "Okay, Father and Mother are coming for lunch at noon, I remember."

"Then what dishes do you want to eat? I'll cook for you."

"Buy some prawns, poached."

Ji Taoyu responded with a smile: "Okay."

Huo Shu had gotten up about the time it took to burn one stick of incense before maoshi (5-7 AM). After he had washed up, he could probably reach the camp on a fast horse in about fifteen minutes.

He could eat breakfast at the camp after the morning roll call.

By the time he had inspected the camp for an hour or so, the sky was completely bright, and Ji Taoyu, who had said he would get up early to go to the morning market, just woke up from his extra sleep.

The bed curtains swayed and flipped. A chubby figure struggled strenuously with the long, hanging curtains, trying to protect the bun in his hand with one arm while pulling aside the several layers thick curtains with the other. After a struggle, his fair face turned red from the effort, and he finally managed to squeeze through the curtain.

Seeing the person on the bed still sleeping peacefully, he let out a long breath, half-crawled onto the bed, leaned over, and called out softly: "Little Father, get up."

When Ji Taoyu opened his eyes, he saw the little hairy head nestled beside him.

He reached out and ruffled the little kid's hair, his voice still carrying a somewhat sleepy nasal tone: "Why are you up so early?"

Xiao Taohe saw his little father glance at him and then close his eyes again, so he quickly brought the big bun in his hand to Ji Taoyu's mouth: "Little Father, eat bun."

Ji Taoyu opened his mouth and took a bite of the bun, then slowly opened his eyes.

He had thought about holding the little kid to sleep a while longer, but thinking about the greasy hands from holding the bun, he gave up.

The father and son lingered in the room for quite a while before Ji Taoyu was properly dressed and went out to the morning market.

They didn't take a sedan chair. Ji Taoyu carried a small basket in one hand, held Xiao Taohe's hand with the other, and with two accompanying servants, they went early to buy groceries.

After leaving the alley, the main street of the morning market was the most lively, with many people loudly hawking vegetables and meat.

The fresh melons, fruits, and vegetables still carried dew, and the chicken, duck, mutton, and pork were all freshly slaughtered this morning.

They actually hadn't moved into the city to live for very long. In the past days, they were busy decorating the residence and hadn't had the leisure to come out and stroll through the morning market.

This was Xiao Taohe's first time visiting the morning market. Seeing it so bustling, his big eyes moved from left to right, right to left, finding it very novel.

At first, he was very well-behaved and obedient, holding Ji Taoyu's hand.

When Ji Taoyu bent down to look at vegetables and ask prices, he would also squat down and gently touch the vendor auntie's big round pumpkin, making the vendor auntie like him immensely.

A fair, chubby, beautiful, and sensible kid was truly endearing.

Seeing the little kid so well-behaved, Ji Taoyu felt reassured. When buying vegetables, he didn't need to hold his hand all the time.

Unexpectedly, once the little kid's hands were free from restraint, he immediately changed. Seeing the green prawns at the fish stall, his eyes lit up. He rolled up his sleeves, squatted down, and directly reached out with his hands. The prawns at the bottom of the bucket, startled, jumped up, splashing water all over his face. Instead of avoiding it, he giggled loudly.

The large-tailed perch fled desperately under the little demon's claws. The slippery feel of the fish's body excited the little guy even more. If Ji Taoyu hadn't noticed in time, he probably would have tried to step into the big water basin.

Ji Taoyu stared wide-eyed at his son, who was already more than half soaked. He felt a surge of exasperation, and his chest involuntarily heaved with a frustrated sigh.

Xiao Taohe laughed, revealing his baby teeth. His two small hands were slippery and greasy. His beautiful, harmless smile suddenly made him look more like a little rascal.
