Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 89 Part 1

Chapter 89: Red Maple Forest

Rong Yu let out a long yawn, not sure if he was fully awake or still drowsy, his voice low: "Brother, are you thinking about me again?"

Yin Chengjue: "..." While that wasn't entirely untrue, the question was just too direct. Yin Chengjue felt a bit too embarrassed to answer.

"Hehe, is brother shy? It's okay, then I'll say it. Brother, I miss you."

Yin Chengjue nearly crushed the handle of his coffee cup!

"Mm, me too," Yin Chengjue cleared his throat and replied.

"Actually, we didn't originally need to rush to film night scenes. It's mainly because GCD is about to start rehearsing the dances for their Reincarnation tour, so I have to go practice. We just had to speed things up a bit first." Rong Yu sighed: "Brother, earning money is really hard."

Yin Chengjue was amused by his slightly coquettish tone: "Don't rush. Later, when you've acted in enough works, good enough ones, won awards, gained more attention, more fans, and can break into the first or second tier, your pay will naturally rise with your status."

"Mm, I need to work hard to improve, work hard to earn money to support brother," Rong Yu said seriously.

Yin Chengjue: "This is the first time I've heard of the one being kept saying they need to earn money to support their sugar daddy."

Rong Yu: "Then I'll say it more often from now on."

Yin Chengjue: "Then I'll visit the set this afternoon, and you can say it to my face."

Rong Yu's spirits instantly lifted: "Okay! We're filming on location this afternoon. I heard we're going to Maple Forest Mountain. It's the perfect time for the maple leaves to be red. The mountains are covered with red maple leaves, every corner is a scenic view. We can go take pictures of the maple scenery during breaks!"

Yin Chengjue was also intrigued by Rong Yu's description: "Okay!"

The first case in "Blood Mist" was relatively short. Basically, the original novel only used two or three chapters, roughly five thousand words, to resolve the case. So during filming, it basically took one day to finish. Other scenes needing additional shots would be grouped together and filmed at a later time.

The serial killer event filmed on the first day was the climax of the fifth case. Filming generally did not follow the chronological order of the plot; instead, it prioritized suitable locations, with editing later stitching everything together.

This approach greatly tested the actors' skills because their emotional performances were not driven by the natural progression of the story, but rather by the specific emotional state required for whichever scene the director chose to film.

As this season happened to be when the maple leaves turned red, the director had them film the exterior scenes for the fourth case of "Blood Mist," titled "The Vampire of the Red Forest."

When Yin Chengjue arrived by car, he happened to arrive just as Rong Yu was on break. A makeup artist was touching up his makeup. The entire set was silent, except for the sounds of Director Chen and Qin Linlin arguing.

Although Director Chen usually indulged Qin Linlin in most matters, he refused to budge when it came to filming decisions. Qin Linlin wasn’t the type to micromanage Director Chen’s work, but this particular case was a minor climax that advanced the main plot of "Blood Mist" and had to be filmed well. As a result, the two had a disagreement over how to present the story.

Their intention wasn't really to argue but to discuss. However, as their voices grew louder, the set grew quieter, making it look from a distance like they were fighting.

Yin Chengjue had no time for mediating arguments, he just wanted to seize the chance to chat with Rong Yu, so he headed straight for the makeup tent.

But as he walked, he suddenly realized something was a bit off.

The arguing voices that had almost dominated the entire set suddenly stopped. Qin Linlin and Director Chen both looked at him, their eyes blazing.

Not only that, all the actors and crew members who were on break turned to look at him in unison, their eyes glowing green.

Yin Chengjue began to wonder if this crew had gone hungry for several days during his absence from visiting.

Otherwise, why were they looking at him with such ravenous eyes?

"Brother Jue!" Qin Linlin's eyes lit up, her call for him almost echoing through the mountains.

A faint sense of foreboding rose in Yin Chengjue's heart, and he reflexively took half a step back.

But Qin Linlin had already charged over!

She was wearing tight pants, and her running posture was somewhat pigeon-toed, which made her pace rather slow. Frustrated, she waved behind herself and shouted, "Hurry! Hurry up and grab him!"

Those crew members who had just been watching Yin Chengjue suddenly stood up and swarmed towards him!

Among them, Rong Yu was the fastest. He was originally in the makeup tent getting his makeup touched up. After the makeup artist put down the eyeliner pencil and Qin Linlin gave the order, Rong Yue instantly shot forward like a tightly drawn arrow released, "whooshing" to the front of everyone and grabbing Yin Chengjue's hand! He twisted Yin Chengjue's arms behind his back!

Others who caught up later also surrounded the stunned Yin Chengjue, rubbing their hands and smiling: "Hehehe... President Yin, you're here... hehehe... just in time..."
