Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 19

Chapter 19: Broadcasting

Feng Chengda’s side was a step too slow in their response. Even though the trending topic was forcefully suppressed, netizens refused to buy it at all.

The rush to remove the hot search only made it seem like a clumsy cover-up, further proving that Feng Chengda had something to hide.

Soon, someone dug up the identity of the woman mentioned in the expose. It turned out she was just an ordinary woman with no background. The only noteworthy detail was that she and Feng Chengda came from the same small town—childhood sweethearts, so to speak.

The melon-eating crowd never expected this drama to drag on for so long and get so ridiculously messy. They were utterly amazed.

While Weibo was in an uproar over Feng Chengda’s scandal, in the trainee dorms of Hey Brother, Let’s Debut!, one trainee clenched his phone in frustration.

During the entire recording period, all trainees had signed agreements prohibiting the use of any communication apps. Bringing a phone privately was strictly forbidden—anyone caught would be immediately expelled from the show.

So this trainee had been sneaking into the bathroom at night while everyone else was asleep to check the latest online developments.

The surveillance camera in this particular bathroom had malfunctioned, something he’d overheard from the staff and memorized. For the past few nights, he’d been coming here to monitor the online discourse.

And every time he looked, it made him furious.

This trainee was Ming Qian, who had recently been dragged through the mud by his own fans.

In a desperate attempt to salvage his crumbling public image, Ming Qian had contacted those paid trolls again, gritting his teeth and paying them a hefty sum to quickly hype him up and drown out the negative comments.

But the moment the money was invested, just as the trolls had begun crafting a "gentle noble prince" persona for him—before it could even gain traction—Weibo’s trending topics were completely overshadowed by the cheating scandal of the Yin Group’s CEO.

Ming Qian was fuming! So angry he could grind his teeth to dust!

Of course, he knew that his current boyfriend, Feng Changheng, was the illegitimate son caught up in this scandal. And precisely because he knew, he was even more frustrated.

After all, Feng Changheng was his biggest backer right now. If Feng Chengda’s side collapsed, Feng Changheng wouldn’t fare well either, and Ming Qian would inevitably be dragged down with him.

Given his current standing, if he wanted to stand out on Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! and successfully debut in the final group, he would need to invest even more money into rankings and vote manipulation—all of which currently came from Feng Changheng, whose funds originated from Feng Chengda.

"Damn it! Who the hell leaked this?!" Ming Qian muttered angrily, about to scroll further when the bathroom door creaked open—someone had entered.

Already nervous from breaking the rules, Ming Qian was so startled he nearly dropped his phone. Annoyed, he shot a glare in the direction of the noise.

Coincidentally, the person walking past his stall was none other than Rong Yu, currently ranked in Class A.

The bathroom partitions were high, but from Ming Qian’s angle, he could clearly see the shoes—Rong Yu’s.

Recalling everything that had happened recently, Ming Qian clenched his jaw.

But then, a brilliant idea flashed through his mind.

After the second round of eliminations in Hey Brother, Let’s Debut!, the production team, considering the trainees’ physical limits and the show’s broadcast schedule, gave them three days off.

Of course, these three days weren’t entirely free—the crew would visit the trainees’ dorms to film their daily lives as "bonus footage," giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at their favorite contestants.

Just as Feng Chengda’s cheating scandal was spiraling out of control and media outlets were digging deeper, the official account of Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! released the first batch of dorm footage.

Yin Chengjue had been happily munching on the drama surrounding his scumbag father when a Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! clip popped up on his feed. Without thinking, he clicked on it.

And then… he immediately regretted it.

Yin Chengjue frowned: Ugh, of course Ming Qian’s face had to show up.

In the video, Ming Qian was smiling warmly as he led the camera crew into the dorm, effortlessly taking on the role of tour guide by introducing each trainee’s bed. He even teamed up with another roommate to wake up one still-deep-in-slumber trainee.

The theme of this behind-the-scenes clip was #MorningsWithTheTrainees#. Originally, the crew had planned a surprise ambush, but since Ming Qian was already up early for a jog, he ran into them in the hallway.

Neck draped with a snow-white towel, Ming Qian greeted the cameraman with a smile. Upon learning their purpose, he feigned surprise before playfully beckoning them to follow him into the dorm.

Thus began the scene of Ming Qian guiding the crew inside to wake his roommates.

Startled awake, the trainees reacted in various ways—some yanking the covers over their heads, others waving sleepily at the camera, and a few just staring blankly. The chaotic, unfiltered moments had fans gushing over how adorable they were.

Ming Qian’s morning jog routine stood out among the trainees, further cementing his "hardworking" image. The production team, always attuned to online trends, didn’t hesitate to give him extra screen time.

Of course, there were other memorable moments—like the trainee whose bedhead resembled a bird’s nest, or the Class A dorm where four guys slept shirtless (the editors had kindly blurred everything but their faces). And then there was Rong Yu, who, upon seeing the camera, immediately treated it like a mirror, leaning in to check his reflection.

The sight of Rong Yu—stubble faintly visible, eyes still drowsy as he finger-combed his bangs—sent his fans into a frenzy.

Rong Yu naturally had smiling eyes, giving him a perpetually friendly vibe. His nose was straight and well-defined, lips slightly chapped from the dry morning air, but that only made him seem more genuine.

"Morning," Rong Yu greeted the cameraman after fixing his hair, only to be told he was already on camera.

Blinking in confusion, he asked, "Huh? You’ve been filming this whole time? Can you delete that part?"

Whatever the cameraman said in response (likely a polite lie), Rong Yu smiled and said, "Thanks!"

Of course, the footage wasn’t cut. Rong Yu’s gratitude was wasted.

Three of Rong Yu’s roommates—one from Class B, two from Class C—were still dead asleep. When the crew tried to film them, Rong Yu blocked the way with a grin.

Then, taking a deep breath, he yelled: "WAKE UP! INSPECTION’S HERE!"

The crew was here for their morning mess, not their polished selves, so the cameraman tried to push past.

Rong Yu promptly wrapped his arms around the man’s waist in a bear hug.

The roommates shot up in panic:

"Stop them, Brother Rong! Don’t let go! I’ve got drool on my face! I can’t lose fans over this!"

"Help! My eyes are crusted shut!"

"Brother Rong! Our dashing, peerless, devil-may-care handsomeness is in your hands now!"
