Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 27

Chapter 27: Favoritism

Feng Chengda entered the gates of Huansheng Entertainment, surrounded by a group of bodyguards dressed in black.

Shang Liu, who was working in the office, soon received the news. Recalling Feng Chengda’s recent trending scandal, he vaguely guessed the purpose of the other party’s visit.

However, since Yin Chengjue wasn’t in the company at the moment, it fell to him to receive this Chairman Feng.

"Ugh, what a hassle..." Shang Liu quickly sent a text to Yin Chengjue before standing up to greet Feng Chengda.

"Where’s Yin Chengjue? Tell that brat to come out and see me!" Seeing that it was Shang Liu who came to greet him, Feng Chengda’s expression darkened.

Recently, Yin He had sent him divorce papers, along with a pile of evidence exposing his infidelity, forcing him to leave the marriage penniless. It had left him utterly exasperated, and now he was in a foul mood with everyone.

Everything had happened too quickly, shattering years of his carefully laid plans into scattered pieces, leaving him struggling to accept the situation.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t understand why Yin He—who had once loved him so desperately, could turn on him so swiftly, refusing to give him even the slightest chance.

Out of desperation, Feng Chengda could only think of seeking out Yin Chengjue.

If he could persuade Yin Chengjue, Feng Chengda believed that Yin He wouldn’t be in such a hurry to divorce him.

At the very least, she wouldn’t rush to divorce him now.

Just a few more years—that was all he needed. Then, he would make sure to pay back every ounce of humiliation he had suffered during this time!

Feng Chengda plotted viciously in his heart: Aren’t women creatures who endure anything for the sake of their children? As long as he gave Yin Chengjue a little sweetness, letting him experience the importance of a father’s love, Yin Chengjue—given his personality, would surely hesitate.

Feng Chengda still remembered how, back in elementary school, Yin Chengjue had refused bodyguard escorts and insisted on running to and from school every day just to prove his toughness to him.

Of course, Feng Chengda had known that all Yin Chengjue wanted back then was a word of praise or encouragement from him. But he deliberately withheld it, not only refusing to give it but also mocking him, constantly belittling him, crushing him, making sure he understood what failure felt like, drowning him in endless self-doubt.

Every time he saw Yin Chengjue bow his head deeply after his scolding, Feng Chengda would feel an overwhelming rush of satisfaction.

No matter how powerful the Yin family was, no matter how wealthy they were, wasn’t the child who carried their blood still forced to grovel at his feet, begging for a single word of praise?

The more Yin Chengjue craved his approval and paternal love, the more Feng Chengda denied him, ensuring he would never get it!

Though in recent years, Yin Chengjue had shown extreme rebelliousness, always opposing him, Feng Chengda was certain that this was just another way for Yin Chengjue to seek his attention.

Simply put, he was just trying to show off his presence in front of him.

So Feng Chengda had no doubt that if he gave Yin Chengjue even a little praise or recognition now, Yin Chengjue would come crawling back like a dog, begging for his guidance and approval.

Feng Chengda believed he had found the key to solving his problems and was utterly convinced it would work.

But what he didn’t expect was that when he walked into Huansheng, instead of being greeted by Yin Chengjue as anticipated, he was informed by the deputy general manager that Yin Chengjue had stepped out.

Feng Chengda, who had originally planned to praise Yin Chengjue and offer some "sweetness," immediately flew into a rage. Without even asking for details, he began berating Yin Chengjue for being "irresponsible" and "slacking off."

The Huansheng office was bustling with people. Even if they weren’t intentionally eavesdropping, they couldn’t help but overhear some of the conversation. Combined with the recent scandal, they couldn’t help but sigh in disbelief.

In the past, when they saw Feng Chengda scolding Yin Chengjue, they might have felt a bit of schadenfreude. But now, remembering Feng Chengda’s gentle demeanor toward his illegitimate child and contrasting it with how he constantly berated his legitimate son, the double standards were just too obvious.

Poor Eldest Young Master Yin—having a father who lived off his wife’s wealth, cheated, and kept a mistress, growing up in a family environment where he could never earn his own father’s approval.

And from what they’d observed these past few days, Yin Chengjue’s work ethic was actually pretty solid. He always arrived and left on time and never engaged in inappropriate relationships with the female celebrities in the company.

Hadn’t there been that one rookie who deliberately dressed provocatively and flirted shamelessly in front of him?

But he didn’t even glance at her, walking straight past her into his office. The next day, news broke that the rookie had been fired.

Today, Yin Chengjue had gone to the debut stage performance of Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! on behalf of the company, hoping to scout some promising talent and discuss advertising deals with the show’s producers. Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! was insanely popular right now, with countless companies trying to get a piece of the action—of course, Huansheng was no exception.

After all, no one ever complained about making too much money.

But this Chairman Feng? Without even asking where Yin Chengjue had gone, the moment Deputy General Manager Shang mentioned that Yin Chengjue wasn’t in, he immediately jumped to conclusions—accusing him of skipping work, being lazy, being hopelessly incompetent, and spouting all sorts of other derogatory terms.

Tsk tsk tsk, to disparage his own legitimate son like this—his favoritism was just too blatant!
