Chapter 28: Filing for Divorce
Feng Chengda didn’t realize that his habitual slander of Yin Chengjue had already made him a laughingstock in others’ eyes. The more viciously he cursed, the more people pitied Yin Chengjue as a poor child unloved by his own father.
By the time Feng Chengda finished his tirade, he noticed the disdainful looks directed at him from all around.
Frowning in displeasure, Feng Chengda was about to say more when Shang Liu politely interjected, "Chairman Feng, as you can see, President Yin is currently in negotiations with Linghai and can’t break away. Why don’t you attend to your own matters first? Once President Yin wraps up his business, I’ll contact you immediately."
Though Shang Liu’s tone was courteous, it was essentially a dismissal.
Having worked in the Yin Group for years, Shang Liu had his own information channels. Due to Feng Chengda’s infidelity, the Yin Group’s stock had plummeted, and with Yin He filing for divorce, the board of directors had already decided to remove Feng Chengda.
At this point, Feng Chengda’s influence was still weak—he held only 17% of the Yin Group’s shares, far from the power he wielded in his past life, where he could outright dissolve the board.
And even that 17% had been transferred to him by Yin He when he married into the Yin family.
Put bluntly, without Yin He, he was nothing. The massive Yin Group had nothing to do with him.
Since Feng Chengda dared to act recklessly under Yin He’s nose, he would have to face the wrath of the Yin family.
Shang Liu lowered his gaze slightly, concealing all emotions behind a polite smile, but his hand firmly gestured for Feng Chengda to leave.
Feng Chengda naturally sensed the coldness in Shang Liu’s tone, making it clear he wanted nothing to do with him. But with his own situation in shambles, punishing Shang Liu over this would only give others ammunition. Fuming, he could only spit out, "You just wait!" before storming off.
"Oh-ho, the old man’s temper is still as fiery as ever," a lazy voice came through the phone. Shang Liu pulled his phone from his pocket, stepped into the office, and closed the door before responding, "If your father doesn’t get to see you, he probably won’t let this go."
The person on the other end of the call was none other than Yin Chengjue.
Shang Liu had texted Yin Chengjue the moment Feng Chengda arrived at the company. By now, Yin Chengjue had finished negotiations with Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! and was on his way home.
Kindly putting the call on speaker, Shang Liu had let Yin Chengjue listen to Feng Chengda’s entire rant.
"I’ll see him eventually, but now’s not the time," Yin Chengjue said, one hand on the steering wheel, the other pulling a cigarette from his lips as he exhaled a smoke ring. "I should at least let the lovely Ms. Yin vent her anger first before stepping in to show my gentlemanly manners."
Shang Liu paused before replying, "Seems Feng Chengda played this move terribly."
Yin Chengjue: "If he knew how to play chess, pigs could become grandmasters."
Then he lightly tapped his own lips. "Ah, my bad. I shouldn’t insult pigs or grandmasters."
Shang Liu silently lamented Feng Chengda’s character, thinking Yin Chengjue’s assessment was spot-on.
Feng Chengda refused to sign the divorce papers, but Yin He remained unfazed. She directly announced their divorce in major newspapers and high-traffic social media platforms.
Not wanting to be dragged down by Feng Chengda’s tarnished reputation, the Yin Group’s board quickly followed up with a notice of Feng Chengda’s dismissal.
With irrefutable evidence of Feng Chengda’s marital infidelity, the law would rule for him to leave the marriage with nothing. The majority of his shares had come from Yin He’s dowry, with only a tiny fraction acquired through his own maneuvering over the years.
If this went to court, Feng Chengda stood no chance. Seeing that his post-divorce shareholding would be negligible—and considering his lack of competence, having risen to his position solely through Yin He’s support—the board’s old foxes had no reason to humor him anymore.
They couldn’t wait to dump this hot potato and salvage the plummeting stock value.
Caught in a pincer attack from both reality and the internet, Feng Chengda was seething with rage.
Locked out of the Yin family home and the premarital properties fully purchased by Yin He (now listed for sale), he could only retreat to a secretly purchased apartment registered under someone else’s name. There, surrounded by online ridicule, he vented his fury by smashing everything within reach.
