Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 20

Chapter 20: Regrets

Because Rong Yu blocked the camera for a while, by the time the cameraman turned his lens toward the remaining three beds, the three trainees had already dressed in a flash, splashed their faces with bottled water, and smoothed down their bedhead hair.

Thus, the camera captured three handsome guys striking three different poses.

Fans behind the screens were laughing their heads off, each claiming their own idol in the comments section.

Xixifusilei V: Xizai, ah, if you’re gonna hide under the blanket, at least cover yourself properly! I can still see your floral boxers! You totally wasted the time your Brother Rong bought you to salvage your image!

HuaHuaLuo V: Brother Ruan Xi actually did alright—his pose was still pretty cool. But Brother Dongqing and my Luoluo’s poses were downright tragic. Did you guys copy your moms’ photoshoot poses from shopping trips?

DongQingShu V: @HuaHuaLuoV The "shopping with mom" comparison is spot-on. I’ve decided to pose like this from now on—being a mom fan is a serious commitment!

The comments from the four fanbases in this dorm were lighthearted and cheerful, creating a harmonious atmosphere.

However, some discordant remarks were mixed in—

DongQingHu: This Rong Yu is so calculating, deliberately blocking the camera to steal a few extra seconds of screen time. And you naive fans are just thanking him like he’s doing your idols a favor? As if!

WinterIsComing: The whole point was for the show to film their morning routines as fan service. But thanks to Rong Yu blocking it, that’s gone now. And you dumb fans are still laughing and even thanking that scheming Rong? Makes me sick.

Conspiracy theories like these kept popping up. Though most were drowned out by rational fans urging deletion, they still stuck in people’s minds like a few bad apples.

Yin Chengjue, annoyed, blacklisted all these accounts and rewatched the footage. Rong Yu had indeed jokingly stopped the cameraman from filming his roommates’ morning states, but the roommates had all voiced their agreement. Not everyone looks their best right after waking up—having a few extra seconds to tidy up was clearly better than being filmed the second they opened their eyes.

Besides, the later interactions weren’t cut short. If anything, this little moment added humor and warmth, subtly showing how relaxed their dorm atmosphere was.

After releasing all the behind-the-scenes footage of the Hey Brother, Let's Debut! trainees’ morning routines, the show’s production team teased that, at the same time tomorrow, they’d release interviews with each dorm, where the trainees would share funny stories about their dorm life.

Fans eagerly replied with "waiting!" and took screenshots of their favorites to edit into high-definition images.

With these clips circulating, various hashtags related to Hey Brother, Let's Debut! quickly trended.

Of course, the reason the show climbed the hot search so fast this time wasn’t just due to fan engagement—it was mainly because certain people were desperate to divert attention.

Yin Chengjue wasn’t sure how far Yin He intended to go, but seeing Feng Chengda’s PR team scrambling to push other topics to the top of the hot search told him things weren’t going well for him.

Yin Chengjue pulled out the list of names he had marked earlier.

He had only given part of it to Assistant Guan to investigate. Some had shown signs of private dealings with Feng Chengda, while others hadn’t—likely because they weren’t famous enough yet for Feng Chengda to bother with.

The ones already uncovered were artists and agents currently favored by Huansheng Entertainment, with company resources heavily tilted toward them. Yet despite that, they were eyeing Feng Chengda’s side before his new entertainment company was even properly established.

After a long silence, Yin Chengjue dialed Shang Liu’s number.

In his past life, Shang Liu had been Huansheng’s pillar. If not for an accident that left him bedridden for the rest of his life, Huansheng might not have collapsed so quickly.

Outsiders saw them as constantly at odds—either in a cold war or on the verge of one. Yet when it came to decision-making, they were always aligned. Truthfully, Yin Chengjue respected him, but their personalities just didn’t mesh. Despite working in the same company, they’d never shared a drink together. Looking back, it was a regret.

After Shang Liu’s accident, Huansheng fell entirely on Yin Chengjue’s shoulders. Then came the conspiracy theories—that he’d orchestrated it to seize power. Even the police hauled him in for questioning, and weibo was flooded with speculation.

At the time, Yin Chengjue, confident in his innocence, ignored the rumors, believing the truth would prevail. But that silence let opportunists smear him relentlessly.

Though evidence later cleared him, the public preferred to believe he’d paid his way out, dismissing the facts outright. His reputation took a nosedive.

Now, he was sure Feng Chengda and the illegitimate son had played a hand in it.

To elevate the bastard, they’d spared no effort tearing down the legitimate heir. Yin Chengjue really wanted to crack open Feng Chengda’s skull to see what kind of messed-up wiring was inside.
