Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 55

Chapter 55: Does It Smell Good?

Yin Chengjue didn’t expect Rong Yu to finish filming so effortlessly, passing in just one take.

Toner had Rong Yu reshoot a few more scenes for additional editing material later.

Rong Yu seemed born to be the camera’s favorite. While most people’s looks suffered slightly on camera, requiring post-production filters to compensate, Rong Yu had no such issue. No matter the angle, every shot turned out flawless.

"Oh my! Mr. Yin, I think I’ve found the perfect candidate for the next cover of Fashion World!" Toner flipped through the photos he had just taken, unable to hide his amazement.

Yin Chengjue felt inexplicably irritated. "You’re here to film an ad, not take a bunch of photos. Why did you snap so many?"

"Hey! I was planning to send them to you since they turned out so well. Should I just delete them now?" Toner pretended to tap the delete button.

"Wait!" Yin Chengjue grabbed Toner’s hand and silently handed over his phone. "Send them to me first. Then delete them from your camera immediately."

"Hmph! Too late, Mr. Yin. I’ve already sent the best shots to Sentai. I’m sure Mr. Rong will receive an invitation from them soon." Toner grinned. "He’s your company’s artist—boosting him benefits you too. I bet he’ll be a huge star someday!"

No kidding.

Yin Chengjue scoffed internally.

In his past life, he’d been blind, treating Ming Qian—a mere green rock—as uncut jade, showering him with resources while indirectly suppressing Rong Yu. Yet despite that, Rong Yu still rose to fame, becoming Ming Qian’s rival as their fans clashed endlessly.

This time, Yin Chengjue wouldn’t give Ming Qian any resources. How could he possibly reach the same heights as before?

Instead, he’d support Rong Yu, helping him go even further than he had in the past.

"Done? Let’s go." Yin Chengjue had just finished receiving the photos when he saw Rong Yu walking over, changed and ready. Feeling oddly guilty, he quickly locked his phone and gestured toward the door.

Rong Yu caught up eagerly. "Brother, how was my performance just now?"

Looking down, Yin Chengjue saw Rong Yu’s expectant expression.

Unable to resist, he smirked. "I saw an angel descend, bringing with him an intoxicating fragrance—one that makes people lose themselves in its allure."

"Do you like this perfume, brother?" Rong Yu tugged at his collar, blinking playfully. "I actually dabbed a bit under my collar. It smells different on skin—less intense, more elegant, not too overpowering."

Yin Chengjue’s gaze involuntarily dipped past Rong Yu’s open collar, tracing his collarbones and drifting lower—

No! Stop looking!

He quickly turned away, trying to hide his fluster.

Damn it, this perfume really is dangerous!

Yin Chengjue strode ahead, hoping the wind would cool the heat rising to his face.

Unbeknownst to him, behind him, Rong Yu’s bright, innocent smile faded into something far more knowing.

"His ears… turned red."

Rong Yu licked his lips, pulled out his phone, and sent a quick message before jogging to catch up.

At the same time, in a restaurant, a well-dressed man picked up his buzzing phone.

A text flashed on the screen:

Big bro, help me snag something! Link here—launch is 18th next month at midnight! —From your unfilial little brother.

"A-He? What’s wrong? Who texted you?"

Murong He’s eye twitched as he locked his screen. "Nothing!"

The other man raised a brow. "That face doesn’t say nothing."

Murong He scowled. "I said it’s nothing! Can’t you just drink quietly?"

The man: "..." Wow, someone’s in a mood.

After an awkward silence, Murong He finally spoke. "That new A&D perfume—only black card members get first access, right?"

The man: "Uh, yeah? That’s how A&D always does it. Why?"

Murong He: "...No reason."

Just realizing I’m nothing but a black card swipe machine.

Hey Brother, Let's Debut! soon aired the episode where the trainees promoted their new songs in public.

Since clips had already gone viral on social media, anticipation was high—and the show didn’t disappoint, highlighting the best moments from each team.

Some groups were forgettable; others were hilarious, with their antics overshadowing their songs.

The two standouts were Rong Yu and Fei Zhengqi’s teams.

Fei Zhengqi’s group thrived on the "Feiqian" CP fans’ hype, with edited sweet interactions sparking frenzy. Their fans clashed constantly with solo stans, fueling endless online drama and keeping them trending.

Meanwhile, Rong Yu’s team impressed with their roller-skating routine and his sultry rumba with Yin Chengjue.

After airing, the hunt for "masked guy" reignited—but so did accusations of cheating, with claims Rong Yu hired ringers.

The backlash trended fast.

@Tasteless: Lol, who actually believes random people just showed up to dance battle?

@Today’sTake: Rong Yu’s so fake. No way that wasn’t staged. What kind random guy knows rumba?

The usually laid-back "Yuxiang Rousi" fans snapped back.

@FishOcean: Proof or shut up.

@BigFishLittleFish: Other teams bring backup dancers = fine. Our guy dances with one person = cheating?

@SilentFish: Double standards much?

@DailyCool: Even if scripted, Rong Yu’s skills are real. That waist move? Damn. How did masked guy resist?

The thread quickly devolved into thirst over Rong Yu’s flexibility.

The show partnered with a music platform for a vote: the winning team would get an MV. Rong Yu and Ming Qian’s teams led by a wide margin.

By the time Yin Chengjue—busy purging Feng Chengda’s moles from the company—checked in, voting had ended.

To his frustration, Rong Yu lost by 500 votes.

But agent Sally wasn’t worried.

"Boss, it’s good to let others shine sometimes. Always winning just paints a target on his back."

Yin Chengjue conceded the point but frowned. "How did Fei Zhengqi’s votes spike so hard?"

Sally smirked. "Remember the Qi family’s second son? The one who collects pretty celebrities? He’s set his sights on Fei Zhengqi."

Yin Chengjue’s expression darkened. "Him?"

The same man who’d backed Blood Mist’s original lead actor.

Qi’s family dominated pharmaceuticals, and the second son lived lavishly, treating the entertainment industry as his personal playground.

Sally shrugged. "With Qi’s backing, high votes are no surprise."

Yin Chengjue scoffed. "Who says only first place gets an MV? We’ll fund our own. Let’s see whose sales really win."
