Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 16

Chapter 16: Not Your Fault

Perhaps Ming Qian’s PR team originally intended to frame the incident as the work of anti-fans, then pin the blame for inciting them on Rong Yu’s fans.

Unfortunately, Rong Yu’s fans were too Buddhist and simply didn’t take the bait—no arguments, no fights. As a result, the comment section under the original poster’s blog became a stage solely for Ming Qian’s fans.

And that sarcastic, mocking tone was truly unpleasant to read.

Because of this, Ming Qian’s reputation took a major hit. The hardworking persona he had painstakingly built was almost shattered by his own fans’ antics.

Watching the whole thing unfold from the sidelines, Yin Chengjue was utterly amazed. He couldn’t help but think: Do I even need to personally block Ming Qian’s path? At this point, isn’t it Ming Qian’s own team and fans who are standing in his way?

On the other end of the internet, a young man in front of his computer was so furious that he hurled an entire bottle of ice-cold cola onto it.

The computer, obligingly, went black with a crackle of sparks.

“Damn it! A bunch of useless trash! Take the money but can’t even do their jobs right! Can’t even prop someone up properly!” What followed was a string of vulgar curses.

Ding-ding-ding…

A specially set ringtone chimed. The young man paused his tantrum, quickly steadied his breathing, and made sure his tone was perfectly composed before answering.

“Dad!” His deliberately cheerful voice never failed to please the man on the other end.

“Mhm, Hengheng, how’s studying lately?”

If Yin Chengjue had been there, he would have recognized the warm, kindly voice on the phone—the same one that belonged to his own stern, cold father, who never spared him a single kind word. And the one calling him “Dad”? None other than Feng Changheng, the illegitimate son currently dating Ming Qian.

“It’s going well.” Feng Changheng had been too busy fanboying and vote-buying to spare a thought for studying.

“Good. I’ll be on a business trip to City T in a few days, so I can visit you. Anything you want? I’ll bring it for you.” To Feng Changheng, Feng Chengda was the perfect doting father—granting wishes, spoiling him rotten, ready to pluck stars from the sky if asked.

Following his mother’s teachings, Feng Changheng first politely declined. Only after Feng Chengda repeatedly insisted did he finally “reluctantly” admit” that he wanted a flashy sports car—because all his classmates had one, and he didn’t.

Feng Changheng attended a private elite high school where students came from extreme wealth. Luxury sports cars were like toys to them.

“Sure, I’ll buy you one. What kind do you want?”

Feng Changheng imagined himself driving up to Ming Qian’s performance in an expensive, eye-catching car, holding up Ming Qian’s light sign—what a spectacle it would be! It would definitely generate buzz for Ming Qian! Without hesitation, he named the latest limited-edition model.

Feng Chengda didn’t know much about sports car models, but he was confident in his wealth. A slightly pricier car? No big deal. He agreed immediately.

Thrilled by the promise, Feng Changheng cheered, showering Feng Chengda with cries of “Best Dad ever!”

While father and son enjoyed their heartwarming exchange, Yin Chengjue finally received the long-awaited call from his mother, Yin He.

“Sweetheart~ Did you miss Mommy~?” Yin He blew a kiss through the screen.

“Of course.” In his past life, Yin Chengjue had rarely responded to his mother’s affectionate teasing. But after experiencing the pain of losing her, he realized how precious these little moments were.

Yin He was stunned. Her son, who had grown into a cold, aloof man, actually responded?

“Sweetheart, Mommy’s finished handling things here. I can divorce that bastard anytime, but… you won’t blame me, will you? I never tried to fight for… a complete family for you…”

“Mom, what are you saying? If our family isn’t complete, it’s not your fault. Why would I blame you?” Yin Chengjue looked at his mother through the screen, deadly serious. “Mom, you did nothing wrong. The wrong one is that bastard.”

Yin He: “…Well, he might be trash, but you are his son. Isn’t it a little harsh to say that about yourself?”

Yin Chengjue deadpanned: “Can’t I be the son of you and the neighbor, Lao Wang?”

Yin He: “Sorry to disappoint… but Mommy doesn’t have the habit of cheating.”

“Anyway, we can divorce anytime, but we still need… a little push.” Yin He smiled sweetly. “I told you, I won’t let him take a single thing that belongs to me. Not even a touch.”
