Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 32

Chapter 32: Eating Hot Pot

Half an hour later, Yin Chengjue arrived at the hot pot restaurant at the given address and was ushered into a small booth by an enthusiastic, plump middle-aged woman.

Though it was called a booth, it was only separated by a thin, low partition. The steam from the neighboring hot pot was clearly visible, let alone the noise.

Fortunately, Rong Yu had chosen a corner seat, and since it wasn’t peak dining hours, there weren’t many people around, making the corner relatively quiet.

"Over here!" Rong Yu, already eating with gusto, had his mouth glistening with oil and was panting from the spiciness. Still, he waved at Yin Chengjue and pointed to the seat opposite him.

A clean set of bowls and chopsticks had already been placed there, looking starkly out of place amidst the spread of dishes, as if beckoning someone to fill them.

Yin Chengjue couldn’t help but laugh. "No need to order so much."

As soon as he spoke, Rong Yu handed him the menu, saying, "Go ahead and order what you like. I’ll try to finish some of this to make room for your dishes."

Yin Chengjue: "…" So this whole table was just for you?

Yin Chengjue looked at the nearly overcrowded table with a complicated expression. "Don’t you all have to manage your figures?"

He had once seen Ming Qian eating nothing but fruits and vegetables every day to maintain his appearance for the camera.

"Mmm, not me. I’ve always eaten like this," Rong Yu said, wiping his mouth with a tissue before grabbing a cold tea and gulping it down. Then, he busied himself fishing meat out of the hot pot and enthusiastically urged, "Don’t stand on ceremony, dig in! This meal’s on me. This place might be out of the way, but the portions are generous, the meat’s fresh, and the flavor’s amazing!"

Yin Chengjue sat down across from Rong Yu and remarked casually, "We’ve only met twice, and you’re already treating me to hot pot?"

Rong Yu blew on a steaming slice of meat. "Meeting is fate! Besides, I finally got a day off today and invited a bunch of people, but everyone said they were busy. You’re the only one who agreed. For that alone, I owe you a treat!"

As he spoke, he raised the meat on his chopsticks. "Here’s to this slice of meat! After this, we’re good brothers!"

Yin Chengjue found himself infected by Rong Yu’s energy, and the gloom weighing on his heart lightened a little.

Two hours of punching a sandbag hadn’t lifted his mood as much as this guy’s few words.

Yin Chengjue also picked up a slice of meat from the pot, clinked it with Rong Yu’s, blew on it to cool it down, and ate it.

Admittedly, though the restaurant was small, the food was really good.

"Hey, since we’ve shared meat now, shouldn’t you introduce yourself properly? It’s not fair that only you know who I am," Rong Yu said as he dumped another plate of meat into the boiling pot.

"My name is Yin Chengjue. If we’re talking brotherhood, I’m probably older than you," Yin Chengjue replied.

"Brother Yin! From now on, just call me Xiao Yu!" Rong Yu smoothly raised his glass of cold tea.

"Xiao Yu." Yin Chengjue clinked glasses with him. Rong Yu seemed much more relaxed now compared to when they’d met on the balcony—apparently, he really had been nervous back then.

"Xiao Yu, if you really debut in a group, have you thought about which direction you want to take? You’ll definitely receive a lot of offers. Only by knowing what you want can you decide which ones to accept." Yin Chengjue interlaced his fingers and rested his chin on them, looking at Rong Yu with a serious and earnest gaze.

Rong Yu clearly hadn’t expected the conversation to take this turn. After a few seconds of thought, he said, "If I really make it into the group, I’ll follow the team’s plans first. Then, if time allows, I’d like to take on acting roles. I want to act."

"Let me put it this way," Yin Chengjue said. "All the group members will have agencies behind them. Even if they didn’t before debut, plenty of companies will approach them afterward. Sooner or later, you’ll have to choose a company—one that can provide you with good resources. If you want to pursue acting, you’ll need good scripts."

Rong Yu blinked. "Brother Yin, why don’t you just say what’s on your mind?"

Seeing that the topic had been steered in the right direction, Yin Chengjue stopped beating around the bush. He pulled out a business card with the logo of Huansheng Entertainment from his pocket and said to Rong Yu, "I hope you’ll consider our company."
