Rebirth: Spoiling the Obsessive Film Emperor Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Annoyances

Yin Chengjue was a sucker for good looks, and Ming Qian’s face happened to perfectly match his aesthetic.

So, in his past life, the moment Yin Chengjue saw Ming Qian in that talent show, he decided to take him under his wing.

From then on, Yin Chengjue spent money hiring internet trolls to vote, boost rankings, and flood comments for Ming Qian, ensuring that while he didn’t always rank first in the polls, he never fell below the top five.

Ming Qian’s public persona was also highly appealing—a gentlemanly young master, a sweet older brother. Though he wasn’t skilled in singing or dancing, he showed noticeable improvement with every performance, attracting a swarm of fans who adored his looks.

By the end of the show, with the fans’ support and Yin Chengjue’s financial backing, Ming Qian debuted as the center in first place, beating the second-place contestant by a mere ten votes.

That second-place contestant was undeniably the most talented. Without Yin Chengjue’s investment, Ming Qian would never have surpassed him—something Yin Chengjue was well aware of. But in his past life, he was so fixated on Ming Qian’s face that he didn’t care.

The world was never fair to begin with, and Yin Chengjue had learned that from a young age.

But as for Ming Qian, Yin Chengjue believed he had never treated him unfairly.

After Ming Qian debuted, his assistants were incompetent, so Yin Chengjue found him a top-tier agent. When Ming Qian felt being an idol wasn’t sustainable and wanted to transition into acting, Yin Chengjue secured him the hottest IP at the time. When Ming Qian thought acting wasn’t gaining him enough fans and wanted to appear on variety shows, Yin Chengjue shoved him into a popular one.

Ten years, Ming Qian went from an unknown nobody to a household name in the entertainment industry.

Yet, just when Yin Chengjue thought it was time to propose, he caught Ming Qian cheating with another man.

The man who acted so pure in front of him—flinching like a startled rabbit at the slightest touch—was now debauched and wanton under someone else, like a seasoned prostitute.

Ugh! Just thinking about it made him sick. Yin Chengjue felt his stomach churning again.

As expected, the talent show 'Hey Brother, Let’s Debut!' announced its premiere the next afternoon, then bought three trending hashtags during peak traffic that night.

One was the official account’s release of a carefully edited audition clip.

One was a group pose of the 166 contestants who made it through auditions.

One was the promotional photos of the invited mentors.

By around 10 PM, netizens had started compiling screenshots of the most handsome contestants, captioned with "I’m in! I’m totally in!", quickly rising to the top of the trending list thanks to droves of admirers.

Among the ten handsome faces compiled by netizens was Ming Qian.

In his past life, it was these very images that had drawn Yin Chengjue’s attention to Ming Qian.

Back then, he thought that face was beautiful. Now, just seeing it made him want to vomit.

Hey Brother, Let’s Debut! had only just been announced—the actual broadcast wouldn’t start until the following week—so Yin Chengjue didn’t invest much energy in it. Instead, he focused on gathering evidence of Feng Chengda’s affair and illegitimate child.

Before experiencing the events of his past life, Yin Chengjue had only thought his father was excessively strict, berating him loudly for the slightest mistake, always acting as if he were a hopeless disappointment. This pushed Yin Chengjue’s rebelliousness to the limit—whatever Feng Chengda wanted him to do, he’d do the opposite.

But later, Yin Chengjue realized it was all deliberate.

At least when it came to his illegitimate child, Feng Chengda was always smiling, as if that mistress and love child were his real family.

That illegitimate child was none other than the man Ming Qian had cheated with—the other lead in the "action scene" Yin Chengjue had witnessed the night before his rebirth.

Ugh. Thinking about it made him nauseous again.

It was only after stumbling upon that scene and investigating that Yin Chengjue discovered the existence of this illegitimate child. But by then, it was too late. Before he could plot revenge against the illegitimate child and Ming Qian, he was framed and imprisoned. Though he was soon released due to insufficient evidence, the Yin Group had already undergone a massive upheaval in that time.

Feng Chengda had planned it all along—not only taking all the top talent away from Yin Group. but also using Yin Chengjue’s arrest to tarnish the company’s reputation, causing stock prices to plummet and the capital chain to collapse three times in just a few days.

Not only that, Feng Chengda took the opportunity to serve divorce papers to Yin He. When she refused, he deliberately brought his mistress and illegitimate child to her face, mocking her for "stealing love" years ago, for tearing apart "true lovers," and claiming she deserved this retribution.

With her son arrested for allegedly hiring a hitman, the Yin Group on the brink of bankruptcy, and the man she’d loved for decades revealing he’d only used her—while she had cut ties with her own family for his sake—the barrage of blows was too much. Yin He couldn’t take it and jumped off a building.
