Chapter 69
Ji Taoyu always felt that whenever Huo Shu pressed down on him, it was like a mountain collapsing—overwhelming and suffocating, as if it could crush the life out of him.
At first, he had been nervous and even a little afraid, but as he grew accustomed to it, he no longer feared the danger.
Huo Shu was, surprisingly patient—never rushed or rough. Instead, he was… gentle and meticulous, completely unlike his usual self.
Back when they had just gotten married, Ji Taoyu had been afraid of the pain and couldn’t quite manage it, but he never resisted doing these things with Huo Shu. This contrast in Huo Shu’s behavior made Ji Taoyu adore him even more, only he knew Huo Shu had this side to him.
People always took pride in being someone’s exception.
Later, when things finally worked out, Ji Taoyu still found it a little painful, but Huo Shu seemed to have developed a taste for it. Whenever they were alone, he always had intentions.
Unfortunately, those intentions never came to fruition, they soon set out on another trading trip. The constant jolting of the journey drained most of Ji Taoyu’s energy, and Huo Shu always held back.
Even when they camped, it was like wild beasts returning to the mountains, only fueling Huo Shu’s more… animalistic instincts. But he still restrained himself, never going too far.
Now, Ji Taoyu let Huo Shu move his arms and legs as he pleased, completely submissive.
Not that there was much to adjust—they had only ever done it face-to-face.
He could adapt, and Huo Shu seemed satisfied with that.
Huo Shu noticed something unusual about the young ger today.
Though Ji Taoyu had always been obedient—after all, against Huo Shu’s strength, any resistance was futile and only served to heighten the excitement—there was a difference between passive submission and active willingness. And Huo Shu could tell.
His hand rested on Ji Taoyu’s slightly rising and falling stomach, neither moving up nor down, just enough to make one’s heart itch.
Ji Taoyu’s skin was delicate, soft, and smooth—nothing like Huo Shu’s rough hands, which had pulled coarse reins and gripped cold weapons. Touching Ji Taoyu sent an electric jolt through his body every time.
He wasn’t ashamed to admit that when he first fished Ji Taoyu out of the water and carried him by the waist—that pale, fragile face had piqued his interest.
But interest was just interest. What made him willingly meddle in Ji Taoyu’s affairs, even savoring it, was his personality—the person himself.
"Even if you’re willing, it still won’t be quick."
Huo Shu looked down at the ger beneath him, making it clear from the start.
Ji Taoyu’s face flushed slightly. Earlier, he had told Huo Shu to hurry up and not drag things out, but he knew full well that when it came to this, Huo Shu was never fast.
He whispered, "I know."
"What I meant was… you can do it twice."
Ji Taoyu’s face burned even hotter. Seeing the sudden wolf-like glint in Huo Shu’s eyes, he immediately backtracked: "Once. Just one more time."
They were so close that Ji Taoyu caught the faintest hint of a laugh from Huo Shu.
"Can you handle it?"
Ji Taoyu clutched the corner of the quilt, his gaze drifting.
It had been over half a year since they married. Now that they were home and had even earned some money, he thought… it might be time to have a little one.
Not that he was in a hurry, but it was possible now.
Still, he didn’t voice these thoughts. Instead, he trembled slightly and murmured, "Mm."
Huo Shu’s chest rose and fell deeply—he felt like he was about to lose his mind.
Fortunately, his face remained as cold as ever, masking the storm inside.
But his urgent, impulsive movements betrayed him.
Then, suddenly, Huo Shu paused, regaining some composure.
"Do you still have that thing Tianyin gave you last time?"
Ji Taoyu, already lost in the heat of the moment, blinked dazedly. "Huh?"
But then he remembered. "It’s in the chest. Why?"
"No point wasting someone’s kindness."
Huo Shu got up and strode toward the chest.
Ji Taoyu’s gaze lingered on Huo Shu’s long, well-proportioned, powerful legs, his mind fogging over for a second. But then he snapped back. "Didn’t you say it was too small?"
Huo Shu quickly returned to Ji Taoyu’s side, picking out a larger one from the unevenly made items in the box.
Ji Taoyu, still dizzy, felt something was off. He wanted to say something, but Huo Shu didn’t give him the chance.
A rare summer breeze rustled the peach leaves outside, as if embarrassed for the people inside, trying to cover up their sounds.
When Ji Taoyu woke up, the room was already dim.
Only a faint glow of sunset remained on the windowsill, its light slowly fading.
He rubbed his eyes, the bed was empty except for him.
He had no idea what time it was, but in summer, the days were long. The sun setting meant it was probably around xushi (7-9 PM).
His throat was parched, like a river fish out of water. He wanted a drink, so he pushed his exhausted body up—only to hiss in pain.
His entire body felt like it had been dismantled, soreness flooding every limb.
He slowly shuffled off the bed, stuffed his feet into his shoes, and stood up—only for his legs to give out the moment he stepped off the shoe.
With a thud, he collapsed onto the floor.
Before he could even yelp, the door burst open.
Huo Shu rushed in and immediately scooped Ji Taoyu up.
"Are you hurt?"
Ji Taoyu pouted and weakly shoved at Huo Shu. "What do you think?"
Huo Shu gently placed him on the couch, then lit the candles in the room.
He quickly fetched Ji Taoyu’s medicine chest, pulling out some ointment before hurrying back.
Ji Taoyu had already rolled up his wrinkled undergarments, revealing his knees—reddened from the fall.
Huo Shu’s frown deepened. He poured some medicated oil into his palm, warmed it, then carefully pressed it against Ji Taoyu’s skin.
"Why didn’t you call for me?"
"Who told you not to wait for me to wake up?"
Ji Taoyu’s tone was slightly whiny.
"I stayed for a while, but when you didn’t wake up, I stepped out."
Ji Taoyu hastily adjusted his pant leg, his face burning. If anyone found out the two of them had slept in this late together, the whole village would be talking.
