Chapter 59
"Yeah, it's nice to be pampered. Jin ger, if you're not going to work, you might as well go back home instead of hanging around here."
"..." Where was he hanging around? He had been sitting here the whole time! Besides, did he even want to come here in the first place?!
Wang Jin was so angry he laughed. He’d much rather go back. He stood up and said, "Fine, I’ll go back then. A-Mu, come with me."
"Alright." Mu ger stood up as well.
Yue ger quickly rose to persuade him. Seeing that Wang Jin wanted to leave, he blocked his path, refusing to let him go.
Seeing this, someone sneered, "Look at this, making the leader’s ger beg so humbly for him to stay. What a high-and-mighty attitude."
"Yeah, being spoiled really makes a difference. I say, Yue ger, just let him go back. It’s not like he can do anything anyway."
Hearing this, Yue ger said sweetly, "Don’t say that. A-Jin was invited by me to teach me how to weave."
"Teach weaving? There’s not a single person here who doesn’t weave better than him," someone retorted, giving Wang Jin a disdainful look.
Wang Jin chuckled softly. Weaving had only been introduced to the tribe less than half a year ago. Had these people already forgotten who was the first to know how to weave?
Yue ger glanced at Wang Jin, his voice sounding even more sincere. "Even though A-Jin isn’t the best at weaving, he’s a good teacher. All the ger in the tribe who know how to weave were taught by him."
Bringing this up only made things worse. The ger who had been holding back their anger grew even more furious.
In his past life, Wang Jin had been a wealthy young master, used to ordering people around. When he taught the gers how to weave, his tone was as if he were commanding servants from his previous life. The more easygoing gers forgot about it once they learned, but the more petty ones quietly held grudges.
Unfortunately, several of the gers present were the grudge-holding kind.
With Yue ger deliberately or not bringing up the weaving lessons, their suppressed resentment flared up.
Someone immediately snapped back, "What teaching?! He only taught everyone because he found weaving troublesome himself! Once everyone learned, he pressured them into giving him some of their cloth! That way, he didn’t have to do anything and still got fabric!"
"Yeah, he’s just lazy!"
Mu ger frowned, about to speak, but Wang Jin stopped him.
There was no point arguing with these people. From now on, he just wouldn’t teach them anything new. Let’s see who would suffer more in the end!
Wang Jin took Mu ger’s hand to leave, but Yue ger, sharp-eyed, noticed and flashed a dark look before stepping in to block them again.
Though his eyes were shadowed with malice, Yue ger’s expression was all sincerity, as if Wang Jin and Mu ger were his dearest friends. His words were full of false concern: "A-Jin, don’t be angry. Everyone’s just a bit stressed from the rush work. Don’t take it to heart. It’s also my fault for not taking better care of you after inviting you here. Here, A-Jin, sit down. I just made some meat soup, let me have someone bring you a bowl. Think of it as helping me taste the soup, not teaching weaving or working."
As he spoke, Yue ger shot a warning glance at the gers who had spoken against Wang Jin.
The others fell silent.
Wang Jin and Mu ger frowned, unsure what Yue ger was scheming now.
Wang Jin said, "I’m not hungry. I don’t want any. Don’t bother."
"A-Jin, no need to be polite with me."
"..." Who was being polite? He was picky, unless the food was made by his man or Mu ger, he found everything else disgusting.
Wang Jin repeated, "Really, no need."
Yue ger smiled without answering and called out twice. Zhen ger and Jia ger emerged from inside and were ordered to bring the meat soup.
Wang Jin was momentarily stunned. Zhen ger and Jia ger had been Yu ger’s (the leader's younger brother) lackeys before. How had they become Yue ger’s followers now?
The soup was soon brought out. A layer of brown grease floated on top, and the strong smell of game was nauseating. It looked utterly unappetizing.
Wang Jin shook his head. "I won’t eat. I’m going home."
He tried to leave again, but Yue ger blocked him once more. After being stopped repeatedly, Wang Jin’s patience was wearing thin.
And yet Yue ger kept up his act. Frowning slightly, he held out the soup with a pitiful expression. "A-Jin, this is made from the tenderest meat of a suckling pig. It’s delicious. Just try a little, please?"
"A suckling pig?" The other ger gasped. "That’s the most prized meat for ger! Yue ger, you’re so good to Jin ger."
Yue ger smiled. "It’s only right. I really want to be friends with A-Jin."
"Seems like he might not want to be friends with you," one ger said, eyeing Wang Jin. "Look at that disgusted look on Jin ger’s face."
"This pork is such a rare delicacy… and Jin ger still turns up his nose at it."
"Yue ger’s kindness is going to waste!"
"..." Wang Jin’s frown deepened, his impatience growing more obvious.
Yue ger noticed and quickly shoved the soup toward Wang Jin, saying urgently, "A-Jin, the leader hunted this after days of effort. I hardly ever get to eat it myself. Please, just try a little?"
He sounded so sincere, carefully offering the soup as if it were a treasure.
Wang Jin dodged several times, but Yue ger kept pushing it at him.
Mu ger tried to take the bowl for Wang Jin, but Yue ger deftly avoided him.
Wang Jin knew this was a trap. Yue ger wanted him to make a mistake so the gossipy ger could spread rumors and ruin his reputation in the tribe, making his life difficult.
This was Yue ger’s usual tactic.
Originally, Wang Jin had been in a good mood and didn’t want to bother with these people.
But… Yue ger was pushing him too far!
Wang Jin took the soup and slammed it onto the table with a loud crash.
The working ger jumped and turned to look.
Yue ger instantly put on a hurt expression. "A-Jin… what’s wrong?"
His eyes reddened, as if he were afraid of being scolded. "Is there something wrong with the soup? Do you not like it? But you didn’t even taste it… Do you dislike it? But it’s really good…"
His words were full of pitiful innocence, yet they subtly implied something negative.
"See? Jin ger is just being picky. Spoiled rotten. Yue ger, I told you your kindness would be wasted. Just let him leave if he wants to," someone chimed in.
"Acting all high and mighty when he’s worse than any of us."
"Yeah, lazy and spoiled. Not one of us. Yue ger, you should just give up on trying to befriend him."
"I think you all should shut up!" Wang Jin finally snapped.
He could have played along like last time, mimicking Yue ger’s act to turn the situation around. But his mother had told him that if someone kept using the same tricks, playing along would only lead to endless frustration.
If he had absolute power to crush them, he could afford to be unrestrained.
Wang Jin alone couldn’t overpower Yue ger, but Yuan Heng could. Yuan Heng could easily overpower both Yue ger and the leader. Initially, Wang Jin had held back out of consideration for Yuan Heng’s relationship with the leader.
But yesterday, his man had said he should never tolerate being wronged.
Coincidentally, Wang Jin felt the same way, he wasn’t used to swallowing insults.
With that in mind, Wang Jin declared, "So what if I’m spoiled and lazy? Brother Heng is still willing to pamper me!"
