Rebirth of the Useless Young Master’s Counterattack Chapter 63

Chapter 63: The Young Master Makes an Arrest

After hearing these words, the two focused their attention on the animal's body. Sure enough, the creature - resembling a cat, instantly turned into a pile of bones, and the red rope from earlier vanished along with it.

He Chen also knew that, given the current weather conditions, an ordinary corpse would decay quickly. How could it possibly remain intact? It was likely due to the resentment and baleful energy contained within the animal that its body had remained preserved.

"Young Master Mu, I’ll naturally take care of this corpse—" Before He Chen could finish speaking, he was interrupted.

"It's just a nameless animal carcass. Bury it nearby, no need for a grand affair," Mu Lichuan said. "As for the disrupted luck of your ancestral graves, it’ll take about half a month to fully dissipate."

The feng shui of the He family’s ancestral graves had been damaged for quite some time, so the recovery would take longer. Still, judging by He Chen’s current circumstances, his personal luck must have been strong—otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to endure it at all.

"Thank you, Young Master Mu! Thank you!" He Chen dropped to his knees with a thud, his eyes moist. He had once been a complete skeptic, but Young Master Mu had proven it to him through action. The gratitude in his heart couldn’t be measured in money.

Mu Lichuan accepted his bow before saying, "Kindness begets kindness."

In his past life, he had been a ruthless businessman, but there were some lines even he wouldn’t cross. He understood the bottom line of those in the trade.

"Yes, Young Master Mu." He Chen took the young man’s words to heart and decided that once his funds were fully liquid, he would establish a poverty relief foundation.

Yuan Dacheng was also sincerely convinced and suggested, "Young Master Mu, why not set up a company? That way, people can seek you out properly."

Even though the capital was a place that opposed superstition, many "masters" still secretly performed rituals, much to the frustration of some. But since they operated discreetly, they hadn’t caused major issues.

"That’s a great idea!" He Chen chimed in.

Mu Lichuan smiled and countered, "Do you think someone my age can open a company? And to openly promote superstition under the Emperor’s nose, that’s more than just a prison sentence." What he didn’t say was that his nemesis, the Young Master Mi, was already onto him.

He Chen and the others immediately thought of the biggest problem in the capital. "Then how about we act as the legal representatives? Don’t worry, we wouldn’t dare embezzle a single cent from you. If clients come, we’ll consult you first. As for company operations, you wouldn’t need to worry about a thing."

Mu Lichuan truly didn’t care about money. After a few jobs, he was far from short on funds. He was only doing this to hone his abilities.

"No need. If it’s someone trustworthy, they can come directly to my villa," Mu Lichuan refused calmly. In his past life, he had been a seasoned player in business and knew all the tricks.

If he were a drifter, he might have wanted a stable base, but as for wealth and luxury, he was already the young master of the Mu family. He had enjoyed plenty in this life.

The two understood the young man’s stance and didn’t press further. After all, a prodigy like him naturally pursued things beyond the comprehension of ordinary men.

When they descended the mountain, they found a crowd of villagers gathered around the old house, buzzing with discussion.

"Lao Chen, they’re here for you," one of the elders said warmly. "They came in a whole line of luxury cars!"

The He family village wasn’t full of bumpkins, they’d seen plenty of luxury cars before. But even their local tycoon, He Chen, didn’t own this many "prestige vehicles." It was quite the spectacle for their humble village.

He Chen wore a puzzled expression as the three of them pushed through the crowd. When they saw the people in the courtyard, their eyes widened in shock, though that only applied to He Chen and Yuan Dacheng.

Mi Shen stood there in a white shirt and black suit pants, his leather boots slightly muddied. His face was cold, his eyes devoid of emotion.

"Young Master Mi…" Yuan Dacheng and He Chen exchanged glances. They had no connection to Mi Shen, so they looked to Mu Lichuan for answers.

They only knew that at Shenghua Hotel, Mi Shen had suddenly collapsed, and it was Young Master Mu who had stepped in to save him, preventing what could have been a disaster.

Mi Shen’s expression remained blank. A group of black-suited bodyguards exuded a murderous aura, making the villagers realize these men were no ordinary visitors.

Mu Lichuan’s face darkened. "You—" Before he could say anything, his wrist was seized.

"You—come with me!" Mi Shen’s tone was no better. He had been in the middle of a meeting when a sudden sense of foreboding struck him. After receiving a report from his subordinates, he rushed over immediately.

Logically, Mu Lichuan was a stranger to him. Yet his actions inexplicably tugged at his nerves. He had investigated the fall of the Mu family in Chuan City.

Why had the entire Mu family died overnight? Why had the business magnates attending the engagement banquet also perished? Even the head of the Mo family - known for their mystical arts, and his daughter had died. The official story was food poisoning, but clearly something fishy was going on, likely something supernatural.

With no survivors in the Mu family, the case was dropped. But Mi Shen couldn’t ignore the sudden appearance of this grandfather-grandson pair. When he learned the boy had accompanied He Chen to inspect his ancestral graves again, his unease grew.

Mu Lichuan frowned. Not wanting to make a scene, he simply said, "We know each other. You can handle the rest yourself, I’m leaving."

A swarm of people escorted the two away, leaving the villagers buzzing with gossip.

The atmosphere in the car was icy. Mu Lichuan had no desire to speak to the Young Master. What right did this man have to make such a public spectacle? If word got out, it would damage his reputation.

Even though he was young, those in their circles kept close tabs on each other. Worse, being seen with the anti-superstition crusader might make people think he was a spy planted among the enemy.

Mi Shen remained silent, his aura growing colder. "Before you act, consider whether you can handle the consequences." He wasn’t some nagging old man, yet he couldn’t help fixating on this boy. It was abnormal, and he needed to stop it.

Is it because of the ink painting?

He had considered taking it back, but the boy refused. As for whether it carried evil energy, such things were nebulous. He didn’t understand the intricacies, but he had noticed his mental state improving.

At these words, Mu Lichuan’s suppressed anger flared. "And who exactly are you to interfere in my affairs, Young Master?" Even his great-grandfather hadn’t scolded him like this. What gave this man the right?

"If you’re so determined to eradicate superstition, go after the real ‘masters.’ I’m just a middle school student, what waves could I possibly make?"

After his past life’s trials, he should have been calmer, less prone to outbursts. Yet this man had a way of riling him up like no one else.

"A middle school student? Our entire country couldn’t produce a ‘middle school student’ as formidable as you, Master." Mi Shen’s lips curled in faint mockery.

His goodwill had been twisted into something else, and the boy’s bristling hostility only stoked his own anger. Logically, he should have just thrown him into a "reform facility" and been done with it. Yet for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Since childhood, aside from his frail health, he’d never had a weakness. Even when his parents faced crises, he handled them with icy rationality. But the mere thought of something happening to Mu Lichuan sent his mind into chaos.

"Stop the car!" Mu Lichuan had no interest in continuing this conversation. Being in the same space as Mi Shen made it hard to breathe.

"Stop the car! I said STOP!" When the driver ignored him, he pulled out a talisman. "Mi Shen, if you don’t stop this car, I’ll activate this. If an accident happens, don’t blame me for showing no mercy."

Mi Shen’s eyes darkened. "Pull over," he ordered lowly.

Mu Lichuan put the talisman away and tried to open the door—only to find it locked. "Mi Shen, we walk different paths. There’s no need for us to meet again."

Mi Shen suddenly yanked him into an embrace. The sensation of skin against skin made Mu Lichuan glare up at that handsome face with pure fury. "You—get the hell off me!"

Ten thousand curses raced through the boy’s mind. First, this man had dragged him around without resistance, and now he was manhandling him?

"What kind of bewitchment did you cast on me?" Mi Shen’s expression was equally stormy. His heart pounded so violently it felt ready to leap from his chest.

Mu Lichuan was baffled by the question. "Aren’t you the one opposed to superstition? Besides, I’ve been avoiding you, why would I curse you?"
