Chapter 20: Is Young Master Mu a Villain?
To avoid punishment from her father, she was willing to go all out. In the past, she had been extremely unwilling to marry Mu Lichuan, she didn't even want to be his fiancée. But this was an arrangement made by the older generation, and there was nothing she could do to change it.
Mu Lichuan was just an ordinary person. No matter how capable he was, in a few decades, he would still turn into a pile of dust. So why should she marry him? She was the legitimate daughter of the Mo family. Even if she wasn’t exceptional, she could still learn some of the Mo family’s mystic arts, ensuring she wouldn’t remain a mere mortal.
"Brother Mu, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me." Mo Shanshan’s face was the picture of pitiful vulnerability. Her previous pursuit of Mu Lichuan had been partly due to her grandfather’s orders and partly because of her own pride as a young girl. She had wanted Mu Lichuan to fall for her, only to cruelly reject him later. But things hadn’t gone as planned - Mu Lichuan remained indifferent, wounding her pride. What was supposed to be a lesson for him had backfired on her instead.
The onlookers stared in shock at this sudden twist. So they were actually engaged? All this drama had just been an act? They felt deeply deceived.
All that talk of "the girl chasing the boy" and "love turning to hate" had been nothing but their own wild imaginations. The truth was completely different.
Mu Lichuan felt sick looking at her expression. In his past life, she had used this exact act to manipulate him countless times. Back then, he had been a fool, willing to do anything she asked - except marry her. He remembered rushing back early to surprise her, only to witness that scene... and ultimately losing his life because of it.
"Miss Mo, are you suffering from delusions? Since when were we engaged?" Mu Lichuan said mercilessly. "If you have something to say, we’ll discuss it at the Mo residence."
Mo Shanshan could only watch helplessly as the young man walked away, tears welling in her eyes. He was the one who had humiliated her beyond repair, yet now he was the one acting righteous.
Many students watched Mo Shanshan’s pitiful state without sympathy. Though she was the "school belle" and their so-called goddess, they had finally seen the trut - the school’s top student wasn’t someone to be trifled with. There was no need to risk their own interests for a woman, especially one who wasn’t as perfect as they had imagined.

When Mo Xiangxiong saw the young master of the Mu family visiting, his face lit up with a smile. "Nephew, we owe you thanks for last time. If not for you, we would never have known..." He left the sentence hanging, but both understood.
Mu Lichuan shook his head, then took out the fruit knife wrapped in cloth. "Uncle, I didn’t want to trouble you. I merely reported what I saw. But I never expected it would bring a death threat upon me." The young man’s voice was soft, yet sharp.
"What? Nephew, what do you mean?" Mo Xiangxiong was stunned. He hadn’t even revealed Mu Lichuan’s Yin-Yang Eyes to his own family, how could anyone want to kill him? It made no sense. Besides, Chuan City was peaceful, no one would dare act so recklessly.
"Uncle, it was Miss Mo. This fruit knife belongs to her," Mu Lichuan said simply. "I was nearly hurt at school."
"What?!" Mo Xiangxiong’s expression darkened. He never imagined his own daughter could do something so foolish.
"Nephew, don’t misunderstand, I’m not doubting you, I’m just... shocked." Realizing his reaction was too strong, Mo Xiangxiong quickly explained.
If Mu Lichuan didn’t have Yin-Yang Eyes, Mo Xiangxiong, as the Mo family patriarch, wouldn’t need to be so polite. But this young man wasn’t just the Mu family’s secular heir, he also possessed mystic abilities. Though not yet fully matured, he was no threat to the Mo family. In fact, he might even be useful.
Mu Lichuan nodded in understanding. "I just don’t understand why Miss Mo hates me so much." He had done nothing to her. Even if he wanted to kill Mo Shanshan, now wasn’t the time, it would only raise suspicion.
His words made Mo Xiangxiong’s face stiffen with awkwardness.
Family shame shouldn't be aired in public, he wasn’t stupid enough to tell his daughter’s fiancé that she had lost her chastity, especially since everyone in the Mo family already knew.
"Nephew, my daughter must have misunderstood you. I assure you, this won’t happen again," Mo Xiangxiong said firmly.
Mu Lichuan knew when to stop pushing. "In that case, I’ll trouble you to handle it, Uncle."
As he left, he ran into Mo Shanshan, her eyes red and swollen. She glared at him with pure hatred.
"You actually came to tattle? Are you even a man?"
