Transmigrated As Cannon Fodder To Marry Chapter 71 Part 2

“You came so quickly. It seems your master is truly afraid,” Jiang Lin said coldly, stepping forward to meet the attack.

The assailant didn’t respond, only focused on killing Jiang Lin with swift, his attack was fierce and ruthless.

This black-clad figure was far more skilled than those from earlier in the day. With his injuries, Jiang Lin struggled to keep up. Just as he was about to be hit, a dagger flew out from inside the room, grazing the attacker’s neck. The black-clad figure couldn’t dodge in time and was cut.

Wei Yunzhao appeared at the door in his wheelchair and said to Jiang Lin, “Wife, go help Xun Qi. Leave this one to me.”

Jiang Lin was about to agree when a white-clad, masked figure descended from the sky, landing in the middle of the courtyard and attacking the black-clad figures surrounding Xun Qi.

With Xun Qi now having backup, Jiang Lin stayed to help Wei Yunzhao deal with the leader of the black-clad figures. This man was clearly the leader and the most skilled, and Jiang Lin who was still injured found it difficult to handle him alone. But with Wei Yunzhao’s assistance, the fight became much easier.

Just as Jiang Lin was about to seize the leader’s sword and kill him, Wei Yunzhao suddenly spoke up, “Wife, keep him alive.”

Jiang Lin’s body reacted faster than his mind. He punched the leader twice, once on each side of the jaw.

Wei Yunzhao was puzzled. “Wife, are you venting your anger?” He was hitting the man directly in the face.

Jiang Lin turned back. “Aren’t these people dead-set on dying? I was afraid he might have poison hidden in his mouth to commit suicide.” After all, that’s how it always happened in dramas.

“I was trying to knock the poison out,” Jiang Lin explained, raising his fist to deliver another punch.

Before he could strike, the black-clad figure tore off his mask and spat out a mouthful of blood, along with a tooth.

Jiang Lin instinctively apologized, “Sorry, I might have hit you a bit too hard.”

The black-clad figure glared at Jiang Lin with a look that could kill, while Wei Yunzhao couldn’t help but chuckle. He told Jiang Lin to hand the man over to him and go help Xun Qi.

With the white-clad figure’s assistance, Xun Qi’s fight was quickly resolved. By the time Jiang Lin arrived, the battle was already over.

They had kept two black-clad figures alive, while the rest had been killed by the white-clad figure’s sword.

Jiang Lin looked at the white-clad figure and gestured the number six with his fingers. The figure nodded slightly, and Jiang Lin pointed toward Su Qiao’s room. “Over there, go see her.”

Yue Heng thanked him and headed in the direction Jiang Lin had indicated.

Xun Qi went to call the housekeeper to help remove the bodies. Ordinary servants and guards were no match for such skilled assassins, so they had been standing by, waiting to clean up the aftermath.

Xun Qi tied up the two surviving black-clad figures and asked Wei Yunzhao, “Young Master, should we interrogate them now?”

Looking at the two black-clad figures, Jiang Lin doubted they would get any useful information.

Wei Yunzhao shook his head. “No interrogation. Just tie them up and lock them away. Have the housekeeper deliver the bodies to the government office tomorrow and inform Master Yin that these were assassins sent to kill Su Qiao.”

Since the enemy had sent people, they would undoubtedly be monitoring the Wei mansion. If they noticed discrepancies in the number of bodies, they would surely grow anxious.

Wei Yunzhao wanted to wait for the enemy to grow desperate enough to come to him.

Jiang Lin helped Xun Qi carry the black-clad figure whose tooth he had knocked out and threw him into the woodshed, he didn't forget to threaten them, “Behave yourself. Don’t even think about biting your tongue to commit suicide. If you die, I’ll pull out all your teeth and make sure you die without a complete corpse.”

  The black-clad figures: “…”

Xun Qi exclaimed excitedly, “Ah, so this is also considered a death without a complete corpse! Young Madam, you’re so clever.”

The black-clad figure coldly spat out two words, “Idiot,” then hopped over and closed the door himself, showing his disdain very obviously.

Feeling indignant, Xun Qi kicked the door. “What’s wrong with being an idiot? You couldn’t even beat an idiot. How embarrassing!”

Jiang Lin: “…” Jiang Lin couldn’t help but feel that this idiot was insulting him.

He quickly stopped Xun Qi. “Alright, alright, let’s not argue with a defeated general under your hand. Let him sit in the woodshed, just let him think he’s so clever.” It was best not to reveal their own intelligence too much.
[手下败将 (shǒu xià bài jiàng): lit. A defeated general under one’s hand; fig. Someone who has been defeated by you]

Xun Qi obediently locked the woodshed and followed Jiang Lin, asking as they walked, “Young Madam, if pulling out teeth after death means not having a complete corpse, then shaving their heads would count too. I think just pulling out teeth is too lenient. Let’s shave their heads as well. That would be much more obvious.”

Wouldn't it be more obvious to just dismember the body? Jiang Lin complained silently.

But since he was the one who started this line of thinking, he didn’t have the heart to criticize Xun Qi and instead agreed that it was indeed a good idea.

Xun Qi looked delighted and kept praising Jiang Lin for being clever and kind-hearted.

It wasn’t until they returned to Zhaoyun courtyard and saw Wei Yunzhao waiting at the door that Xun Qi tactfully disappeared.

As Jiang Lin approached, Wei Yunzhao asked if his wounds had reopened and if he needed to reapply medicine. Jiang Lin shook his head. “I’m fine.”

Anticipating that Yue Heng would come to speak with them soon, the two decided to sit in the pavilion instead of going inside. Naturally, their conversation turned to the desperate actions of their enemy.
