What a straightforward person!
Wang Jin nodded in agreement, but after a moment, he shook his head again, feeling something was off. He reached out to stop Mu ger. “But you’re sick. You should rest. Don’t weave anymore. Both your family and mine have enough clothes. There’s no need to work so hard.”
“It’s not enough… and besides, I’m not sick.” Mu ger said, looking down at his belly with a tenderness in his eyes, as if it held the love of his life.
Wang Jin followed Mu ger’s gaze to his stomach, which looked perfectly flat and normal. He couldn’t see anything unusual.
“Is your stomach upset?” Wang Jin asked.
Mu ger shook his head, his face turning pink with shyness. “A-Jin, I’m pregnant.”
“…” Wang Jin froze for a moment, his pupils contracting sharply. He stared at Mu ger’s belly in disbelief, his expression comically stunned.
“P-pregnant?” he stammered.
Mu ger nodded, his smile filled with sweet satisfaction.
“!” Wang Jin felt as though he had been struck by lightning, his entire body stiffening.
He knew that gers in this world could bear children, but Mu ger had always been by his side, and Wang Jin had come to see him as a close friend, like the companions from his previous life. In his eyes, Mu ger was just like the men from his past…
But now, this man… was pregnant…
“Why are you so surprised?” Mu ger laughed at Wang Jin’s dumbfounded expression. “A-Yuan and I have been married for years. It’s about time. A-Jin, you’ll have one too someday.”
“!” Mu ger’s expression was completely normal, and his words sounded perfectly reasonable, but to Wang Jin, they were even harder to accept than the news of Mu ger’s pregnancy.
He… could get pregnant too?
Wang Jin, horrified, covered his stomach with his hands.
Mu ger, seeing Wang Jin’s exaggerated reaction, silently shook his head and went back to his work.
It took Wang Jin a long time to recover. He paced around Mu ger, visibly flustered.
Mu ger, exasperated, put down his work and looked at Wang Jin. “A-Jin, what’s wrong?”
“I…” Wang Jin nervously swallowed and said in a soft voice, “Can I… touch it?”
Mu ger was taken aback but then turned around, generously presenting his belly to Wang Jin. “Of course. If you like this child, I’ll have them call you their godfather when they’re born. It would be an honor for them to have you as their godfather.”
“What? Mu ger is pregnant?!” The other gers overheard and quickly gathered around.
Mu ger smiled and nodded, and everyone congratulated him, their faces filled with joy.
“How many months along are you?” one of the gers asked.
Mu ger replied, “Not even two months yet.”
“Oh, it’s still early, but you should take care of yourself.”
The gers chatted among themselves, completely unfazed, which made Wang Jin’s pale, shocked face stand out even more.
Wang jin's fingers trembled slightly as he mustered the courage to touch Mu ger’s belly. The moment his fingers brushed against the fabric, he flinched, his hand shaking uncontrollably.
Eventually, he managed to place his hand on Mu ger’s belly, but he didn’t dare press down to feel the life growing inside.
The others laughed at his cautiousness.
“There’s nothing there yet, Jin ger. Why are you shaking so much?”
“It’s only two months. You won’t feel anything. You’re acting like a beastman.”
“Haha, it’s true! My beastman acted just like Jin ger when he found out I was pregnant, completely stunned.”
“…” Wang Jin, embarrassed, pulled his hand back and awkwardly rubbed his nose.
The gers continued to tease him. “If you’re this scared just hearing about Mu ger’s pregnancy, what will you do when it’s your turn?”
Wang Jin’s fingers, which had just steadied, began to tremble again.
“A child between Jin ger and Brother Heng would definitely be beautiful.”
“Not just beautiful, but strong too. After all, Brother Heng is the tribe’s top warrior.”
“Exactly! If it’s a ger, they’ll surely charm all the beastmen from a young age.”
They spoke as if such a child already existed, a child who, if a beastman, would be incredibly strong, and if a ger, would be stunningly beautiful, captivating everyone…
Wang Jin’s fingers went numb, the numbness spreading through his body, leaving him weak. His heart felt both sour and swollen, and a sudden, intense longing emerged, a longing for such a child to exist in his and Yuan Heng’s lives…
He was startled by his own thoughts and quickly shook his head.
He was a man… the idea of giving birth was just too strange!
No matter how adaptable Wang Jin was, he couldn’t yet accept the idea of himself being pregnant.
After hearing about Mu ger’s pregnancy, the gers said they wanted to visit his home, and Mu ger led them away.
Wang Jin was left sitting alone in the courtyard, lost in thought.
When Yuan Heng returned, this was the scene he found.
The usually lively courtyard was eerily quiet. The gers who always buzzed around the little ger were nowhere to be seen. Various items were scattered around, creating a mess, and the little ger sat amidst the chaos, looking as though the sky had fallen.
Yuan Heng’s heart skipped a beat. The things in his hands fell to the ground unnoticed as he rushed over and knelt in front of the little ger. “What’s wrong?” he asked softly, placing his hand over the little ger’s cold one.
The little ger, hearing his voice, turned his head slowly, like a rusty machine, stiff and jerky.
“Brother… Heng…” Wang Jin called out, his voice stuttering as if he might bite his tongue.
Yuan Heng’s heart ached. He pulled the little ger into his arms, gently comforting him.
What on earth had happened?
Yuan Heng had a hundred questions, but at this moment, he didn’t want to ask. He just wanted the little ger to forget whatever was troubling him and return to his usual carefree self.
“A-Mu… A-Mu is pregnant, Brother Heng.”
The little ger seemed to finally snap out of his daze, clutching Yuan Heng’s clothes as he spoke.
Yuan Heng’s tension eased, and a smile returned to his face. He pinched the little ger’s nose and said, “That’s good news! Why are you looking so upset? Aren’t you happy for him?”
“I…” Wang Jin looked up at Yuan Heng. The man’s handsome features and strong arms made Wang Jin think that any child of theirs would undoubtedly be strong and beautiful…
Wang Jin’s emotions were complicated. He muttered softly, “A-Mu said… I could get pregnant too…”
“…” Yuan Heng paused, his smile faltering for a moment. A hint of sorrow flickered in his eyes, as if Wang Jin had brought up something deeply painful.
Wang Jin was taken aback. Seeing Yuan Heng like this made his heart ache.
“Brother Heng…”
“Do you want a child, A-Jin?”
