Rebirth with the Beast Chapter 116 Part 1

Chapter 116

As soon as Su Yi entered, Tang Yu, who had been half-asleep on the bed, immediately perked up a little.

"Captain Su, if it weren’t for you, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to give birth." Tang Yu puffed out his cheeks, his plain but neat face wearing a faint look of relief. Before, while carrying the egg, he had been constantly worried about laying it. Now that it was finally over, his expression couldn’t have been more relaxed.

To be honest, seeing Tang Yu’s smug little expression made Su Yi feel a bit unbalanced.

He was about to say something to knock Tang Yu down a peg, but then he remembered how Tang Yu had been writhing in agony the day before, and his heart softened. In the end, Su Yi could only glare at him.

Su Yi sat down on the bed, this room was a guest room. Yesterday, when Tang Yu had laid the egg, the bedroom had been left in complete disarray. To let Tang Yu rest comfortably, Jells had moved him here.

Su Yi looked at the dragon egg on the bed. Its surface was uneven, covered in flame-like patterns, making it look like something straight out of a fantasy game.

Unable to resist, Su Yi reached out and touched it. The moment his fingers made contact, he froze.

    Heavens, this egg is warm?

It was a strange sensation, like touching a heated egg that was on the verge of hatching.

"You’re late. If you’d come earlier, you might’ve even heard its heartbeat."

    Heartbeat?

Su Yi was startled again. Right, this was a child too. Even though it looked like an egg, inside was Tang Yu’s baby, one that could turn into a little toddler, just like little Eli and Dino.

The thought of a tiny dragon popping out of this egg made Su Yi’s mood brighten. He had zero resistance to adorable kids, even if this one hadn’t been born yet.

"By the way, I heard from Mino that you’re carrying a female?" Tang Yu suddenly glanced at Su Yi’s stomach. Su Yi rubbed it self-consciously before smiling. "Yeah, seems so. They say the ones that cause this much trouble are usually female."

Tang Yu’s eyes darted around, clearly scheming something.

Su Yi snorted, cutting off Tang Yu’s train of thought. "Drop whatever idea you’re cooking up. Whether my child is female or an orc, I’m not arranging any child marriage with yours."

Su Yi had hit the nail on the head, and Tang Yu was instantly displeased. He shot Su Yi a sidelong glance. "What’s that supposed to mean? You think mine isn’t good enough for yours?"

Su Yi watched Tang Yu bristle like a cat. They say 'one pregnancy, three years of foolishness,' but he saw that Tang Yu' personality just gotten more dramatic after laying an egg.
[一孕傻三年 (yī yùn shǎ sān nián): lit. One pregnancy, three years of foolishness; fig. Pregnancy brain lasts long after birth]

Still, despite the theatrics, Tang Yu had his own charm.

After some more banter, Tang Yu began to look tired, so Su Yi took his leave.

Sinoer carried Su Yi as they strolled slowly through the valley, greeting people they passed along the way.

But Su Yi’s good mood didn’t last. His gaze landed on that same female from before, who was now bending over and talking to Dino in the distance.

"Let’s go see." Su Yi tugged at Sinoer's arm.

Sinoer hesitated. He didn’t want Su Yi interacting with troublesome people. Though not particularly sharp, he could tell this female was no good. Now that Su Yi was pregnant, he didn’t want him stressed.

Su Yi noticed Sinoer's reluctance. "It’s fine!"

Sinoer sighed but quickened his steps toward them.

Dino sensed someone approaching and turned to see Su Yi and Sinoer. He immediately ran over.

    "Mother!"

Su Yi slid out of Sinoer's arms and patted Dino’s head with a smile. "What are you doing out here?"

"Mother, I wanted to help Uncle Mino gather herbs," Dino answered obediently.

Just then, the female walked up to Su Yi.

Su Yi slowly lifted his head, meeting the female's gaze. The moment the female got a clear look at Su Yi’s face, his mouth fell open in shock.

    "Mirel!" the female gasped.

Su Yi searched his memories. They were distant and blurry, but not entirely unreachable.

However, those memories weren’t pleasant. Mirel had once been the most beautiful female in the tribe, but because he flirted around, the other females banded together and sold him to wandering orc. Eventually, he ended up in Sinoer's hands.

What is this female’s name again? Back then, Mirel had also stolen his almost-partner.

A cold glint flashed in Su Yi’s eyes, this female had probably harmed Mirel too. Though Mirel wasn’t a good person, and Su Yi had no fondness for him, this body was now his. Anyone who had tried to hurt it in the past would put Su Yi on guard.

"You are…?" Though Su Yi recognized him, he had no intention of admitting it. Sinoer had already said it was a case of mistaken identity, if Su Yi acknowledged it now, it’d make Sinoer look bad.

To protect his lover’s dignity, forget one lie, Su Yi could smooth over ten if needed.

The female’s expression darkened, clearly unhappy that Su Yi was pretending not to know him.

But no matter how displeased he was, he didn’t dare show it outright.

"Mirel, we’re from the same tribe. I’m your childhood playmate!" The female spoke warmly, reaching out to grab Su Yi.

Su Yi deftly avoided the touch. "I think you’ve mistaken me for someone else. My name is Su Yi, not Mirel."

The female’s face twisted with frustration. He’d grown up with Mirel, there was no way he’d misrecognize him. But if Su Yi refused to admit it, there was nothing he could do.

"Is that so?" The female forced a bitter smile before reluctantly walking away.

Watching the retreating figure, Su Yi bent down to whisper to Dino, "Stay away from him in the future. He’s not a good person."

Dino blinked in confusion. He was too young to fully grasp Su Yi’s meaning, but he always took Su Yi’s words seriously.
