Rebirth to Erase Dark History Chapter 25 Part 2

The rising and falling cries indeed alarmed the teachers and instructors. The teacher hurriedly asked what was going on and, upon learning that the students were just homesick, he was both amused and exasperated. Instructor Chen straightened his uniform, put on his military cap, and entered the dormitory. He scanned the room and said with a cold smile, "Looks like you all still have too much energy if you have time to think about other things."

The students were stunned, while Yang Jiabo laughed so hard he nearly fell off the bed.

Instructor Chen, you’re so cold and heartless. Be careful, or you’ll end up single forever.

"Instructor Chen, the training is already more than enough. We can’t take any more," someone tried to salvage the situation.

"Is that so?" Instructor Chen glanced at the students, then left, he still had other dorms to check.

The students who had been crying and missing home imagined the increased training load and felt like crying even more. The instructor was a devil, and they wanted to go home, but they didn’t dare cry anymore. While other squads were still crying and missing home, and the teachers and instructors were at a loss, Instructor Chen’s squad was trembling under the shadow of the great demon.

On the fifth day of the summer camp, Instructor Chen took them on a field training exercise, which was essentially a long run. During the run, they had to maintain their formation. If they messed up, the "terminal perfectionist" instructor would make them realize the limits of their physical endurance.

In the desolate wilderness, they walked along a cement road overgrown with weeds and moss. After running a long distance, the students slowly walked to recover their strength. Instructor Chen’s tall and straight figure led the way, serving as a role model for everyone. His upright back seemed like it would never bend.

Yang Jiabo was panting heavily. The increased training load was no joke, he was sure he could eat an extra bowl of rice today. Those who had been pretending to be delicate and refined were now eating like wolves and tigers after being pushed to their limits.

"Ah, there’s a snake!" someone suddenly screamed, and the orderly formation instantly turned into chaos. Screams rose and fell, one after another.

Wei Jing instinctively grabbed Yang Jiabo’s hand, nervously looking around. At that moment, a brown shadow quickly slithered toward them. Before anyone could react, Yang Jiabo bent down and deftly grabbed the snake. However, he didn’t grab it by the neck, and the snake twisted around and bit Yang Jiabo on the back of his hand, drawing blood.

"Yang Jiabo was bitten by a snake! Ahhh—" The students around Yang Jiabo were practically scared to death. This was way too intense for children like them.

"Stop screaming, stop screaming. I’m fine," Yang Jiabo was also startled by their high-pitched screams.

"Jiajia, let go of it!" Wei Jing stared nervously at the snake, which was still biting Yang Jiabo.

"It bit me. I’m not letting it go," Yang Jiabo puffed out his cheeks.

"Stop screaming! What’s going on?" Instructor Chen walked over.

"Instructor, Yang Jiabo caught a snake, but it bit him," He Lei reacted quickly and reported.

"Nonsense," Instructor Chen’s face instantly turned pale.

"Instructor, I’m fine. The snake isn’t poisonous. Don’t worry," Yang Jiabo was afraid that if he didn’t speak quickly, he would be in trouble later. "Instructor, let me tell you, this snake is crispy when roasted and tastes amazing. I’ll give it to you."

The snake he caught was a non-venomous species that could be used in traditional medicine. When roasted, it tasted excellent. In his previous life, Yang Jiabo had eaten roasted snake as a child. The crispy exterior and tender, sweet meat had once captivated him. But after hearing about the parasites in snakes, he never dared to touch them again.

"You’re such a troublemaker. When we get back, you’re running five laps around the compound."

"But Instructor, I’m injured," Yang Jiabo was dumbfounded. He was just messing around. Was this really necessary? But this wasn’t just messing around, it was asking for trouble.

"You know you’re injured? Do you know how dangerous that was? This time it was a non-venomous snake, but what if it had been venomous?" Instructor Chen really wanted to yell. This troublemaker was exhausting.

"I wouldn’t have grabbed it if it were venomous. My grandma lives in the mountains, and I’ve caught this kind of snake before," Yang Jiabo said innocently.

"That’s still not okay," Instructor Chen’s face darkened.

Wei Jing felt that the instructor’s reaction was too mild. He should have scolded Yang Jiabo more harshly. He didn’t understand why Jiajia sometimes acted so mature, like a little adult, but at other times was so childish it was hard to watch. If Yang Jiabo was to explain, he would say it was the self-cultivation and adjustment of a snake spirit illness (with a serious face, though he would never admit he was just an immature kid at heart. It was just that this side of him had been suppressed before.)
[蛇精病 (shé jīng bìng): lit. Snake spirit illness, a humorous or sarcastic way to describe someone acting crazy or eccentric.]

Instructor Chen’s words were final. That night, lying in bed, Yang Jiabo felt like he might already be a broken person.

Instructor Chen is so cold and heartless, he is destined to be single forever. Boo-hoo.

Once, a snake had slithered past Yang Jiabo in a flashy manner, and he had missed the chance to catch it, regretting it for a long time. Heaven had given him a second chance, and he had caught the snake this time, but the outcome wasn’t so great.
