Rebirth to Erase Dark History Chapter 22 Part 2

After Yang Jiabo woke up, Wei Jing told him what had happened to sister fatty and the others. With the help of the school security, Wei Jing had contacted Wei Changdong, who arranged for Yang Jiabo to be taken to the hospital. This time, there was no issue with transferring hospitals. Yang Jiabo was directly admitted to a high-ranking military hospital, where the quiet environment was perfect for recovery.

Wei Changdong, being the hospital director, had also notified Yang Jiabo’s parents and reported the incident to the police. With Wei Changdong’s intervention, Sister Fatty and her accomplices were arrested.

The three were part of a counterfeit money ring, with Brother Ma as a minor leader. Sister Fatty’s arrest had cost him dearly, so after she was released, he took his men to teach her a lesson. Sister Fatty who was quick with her words, shifted all the blame onto Yang Jiabo and Wei Jing.

Brother Ma who was always arrogant, wanted to see the kids who had caused him so much trouble. He temporarily spared Sister Fatty and had her lead him to Yang Jiabo and Wei Jing. Knowing where Yang Jiabo sold vegetables, Sister Fatty easily found them.

However, with so many people around, they couldn’t make a move. They waited until the kids were alone before confronting them. But they underestimated the two children and were outsmarted.

That day, Sister Fatty led Brother Ma to block the kids at the intersection, but the two didn’t follow the usual escape routes. Instead, they climbed the wall into the school. After Liu Qiang injured Yang Jiabo, he retraced their path but missed them completely. By the time the police arrived, the two were drinking soda at a small store near the alley, waiting to catch them. Both were arrested, and Liu Qiang was soon captured as well.

The police seized the opportunity to dismantle Brother Ma’s entire gang. With the criminals behind bars, the danger was over, and Yang Jiabo felt the air was fresher.

With Yang Jiabo out of danger, Wei Jing finally agreed to rest. His stubbornness left the adults with no choice. After a shower, Wei Jing sat quietly on the sofa, waiting for Wei Changdong to return.

“Xiao Jing, go take a nap. I’ll call you when your dad gets back,” Song Yufang said, concerned.

“No, I’m not tired.” If not for the dark circles under his eyes, his words might have been convincing.

“Is there something important you need to say? I can call him back for you.”

  “Mom, it’s fine.”

Song Yufang had no choice but to make him a bowl of sweet egg soup to replenish his energy. As Wei Jing ate the soup, he said, “Mom, Jiajia likes sweet things. Make some for him too.”

Yang Jiabo had saved Wei Jing again, and Wei Jing’s gratitude knew no bounds. He wanted to give Yang Jiabo everything he had.

“I know. You’re always thinking about Jiajia. People might think he’s your real brother.”

When Wei Changdong returned home, Wei Jing pulled him into the study.

“Dad, if it wasn't for Jiajia, I wouldn’t have been able to escape.” Wei Jing’s tone was somber, feeling useless.

Wei Changdong spoke earnestly, “Jiajia is a clever kid. You’re smart too, but there’s still a lot for you to learn. Go out more, see the world, and don’t limit yourself to book knowledge.”

“I want to learn self-defense.” Wei Jing was eager to become stronger.

“There aren’t many good teachers here. I’ll talk to your grandfather. When you go back, we’ll reduce your academic workload and find you a good coach. But remember, being strong isn’t just about physical power. It’s also about mental and emotional strength.”

“I understand. Thank you, Dad.” For the first time, Wei Jing had a vague plan for the future.

After Wei Jing left, Song Yufang entered the study. Wei Changdong smiled. “You two are taking turns today, huh?”

Song Yufang gave him a reproachful look. “Did Wei Jing talk to you about Jiajia?”

“No, the kid’s growing up. He has his own ideas now.”

“As if he didn’t have ideas before.” Song Yufang muttered, then sighed. “Changdong, Jiajia’s a good kid, but he’s too much of a troublemaker. I’m worried Xiao Jing will get dragged into his mess.”

“Don’t overthink it. This incident wasn’t Jiajia’s fault, and he protected our son well.” Wei Changdong reassured her.

“I know it’s unfair to Jiajia, but if it wasn't for him, Xiao Jing wouldn’t have been exposed to those people.”

“Xiao Jing has always been smarter than his peers. His world will only grow broader. He’s not a princess in an ivory tower. He’ll meet all kinds of people. What he needs isn’t sheltering but the ability to solve problems. Honestly, Jiajia’s quite an interesting kid. How many kids his age can spot counterfeit money? Or run a vegetable stall? Or even know about counterfeit money rings? If it wasn't for his quick thinking, he wouldn’t have saved Xiao Jing last time.” Wei Changdong actually thought highly of Yang Jiabo and believed he could be a good friend for Wei Jing.

“You’re right. I’m overthinking things.” Song Yufang sighed. Her worry had clouded her judgment.

“By the way, let’s say the medical expenses were covered by the criminals as compensation. If we give the money directly to the Yang family, they’ll refuse. They’re simple, hardworking farmers, and life isn’t easy for them.”

  “I understand.” Song Yufang nodded.
