Rebirth to Erase Dark History Chapter 13 Part 1

Chapter 13 Growing up is not easy

The two goofy "brothers in misfortune" stood through the entire class. Yang Jiabo finally endured until school was over, because he didn't want to deal with Wei Feng, he ran off without waiting for him. Today, his grandfather had come to pick him up and had also picked up Yang Qing.

Yang Jiabo looked listless and wanted to sleep. He had gone to bed before ten o'clock last night, so he shouldn't have been this sleepy. Could it be that Wei Jing was right, was he actually sick? Did Wei Jing have a talent for being a doctor, or was he just a jinx?

At noon, only grandparents and Yang Jiabo and the two Yang brothers were at home. Yang Jianjun and Yang Meizhen worked at the same factory. They had brought lunch with them when they left for work and would heat it up at the factory. They wouldn’t return until evening. Li Guizhen was on the morning shift today, from 6 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon

"Time to eat," Grandma called from the kitchen.

Yang Jiabo had no appetite at all. He just wanted to sleep, and his stomach felt uncomfortable. But he had school in the afternoon, and skipping lunch would make it unbearable. Yang Jiabo walked into the kitchen with difficulty. On the black square table was a large plate of twice-cooked pork. As soon as he smelled the smell, Yang Jiabo felt nauseous and vomited again.

"Did you eat something unclean outside, or did you eat too much again?" Grandma Yang muttered while patting him on the back.

Yang Jiabo's back was hurt by her patting, so he said with difficulty: "Grandma, please be gentler."

"Okay, okay, be gentler." Grandma Yang said, she lightened her patting and said to Grandpa Zhang, "Old man, go and see if there are any Baoji wan left at home."

Why is it Baoji wan again?

Yang Jiabo didn't want to eat it at all. "No need to look for it, I've already taken it at school."

After vomiting, Yang Jiabo felt a little better, but the greasy smell still made him nauseous. He decided to skip lunch and dragged himself back to his room to sleep. Wrapped in a quilt, Yang Jiabo was extremely tired but couldn’t sleep well. His stomach ached faintly, and the nausea wouldn’t go away. After sleeping through the entire noon, he didn’t want to get up when it was time for school. He felt dizzy and uncomfortable.

"Jiajia, Jiajia, get up, it's time to go to school." Grandpa called from outside the door.

"Big brother is a lazy bug. You’re going to be late for school," Yang Qing’s milky voice chimed in.

Yang Jiabo felt completely drained. It took him a long time to struggle out of bed and open the door. His eyes were watery from discomfort. "Grandpa, I feel terrible. I’m sick."

"Where do you feel bad?" Grandpa asked, reaching out to feel his forehead. "You’re a bit warm. You have a fever."

"Old man, what are you dawdling for? Hurry up and take the kids to school," Grandma urged.

"Jiajia is sick. We need to take him to see a doctor."

"Is he really sick? Not just from overeating?" Grandma muttered.

"Can it be fake if he has a fever?" Grandpa Zhang glared at her.

"Then you take Yang Qing to school first, then go ask for leave for Jiajia. I’ll take Jiajia to the clinic near the hardware store." Grandma Yang said naggingly.

  "I know, I know."

"I feel really bad. I must be suffering from a serious illness. The clinic won’t be able to handle it, we need to go to the hospital," Yang Jiabo already knew what was wrong with him.

In his previous life, around this same time, he had contracted hepatitis with jaundice and had to take a whole semester off. That period was pure agony, he felt nauseated at the smell of anything greasy and couldn’t tolerate even a hint of oil. He didn’t want to eat and just wanted to sleep, but his stomach hurt so much that he couldn’t rest. He had thought that by being careful, he could avoid it, but what was meant to happen couldn’t be avoided.

[Hepatitis with jaundice, a liver condition that causes yellowing of the skin and eyes, fatigue, and nausea]

"Since when can you diagnose yourself? I’m sure it’s just a cold. Just go to the clinic and get an injection." Grandma Yang didn't believe him.

Grandpa Zhang said, "Forget it, I'll take him to the hospital."

"Why are you making such a fuss?" Grandma Yang was unhappy.

"Have you forgotten Ruowen?" Grandpa Zhang showed a trace of sadness on his face. Grandma Yang stopped talking and tacitly agreed to take Yang Jiabo to the hospital.

Ruowen was Yan Ruofei’s older brother. Yang Jiabo had heard the adults mention him, he had passed away at the age of one due to diarrhea, though Yang Jiabo didn’t know the details. What he was certain of was that the adults hadn’t taken good care of him.

Wearing a thick coat, Yang Jiabo climbed onto his grandfather's tricycle, and continued to doze off with his head nodding. They went to school first and then headed to the hospital. The strong smell of disinfectant at the hospital made Yang Jiabo want to vomit again. After that came registration, consultation, and tests.

After all the hassle, Yang Jiabo was diagnosed with hepatitis with jaundice and admitted to the infectious diseases ward. By this point, his slightly yellow face had almost turned green. As for how he contracted the illness, the doctor said the most likely cause was infection.

Yang Jiabo was hospitalized again, and this time his condition was a bit more serious. Wrapped in a quilt, hooked up to an IV, he lay in bed feeling utterly defeated. Life was so hard. In addition to the IV drip, the doctor had prescribed a pile of medication, one of which was like a brother of Baoji Wan, except one was black, and the other was white. Was he about to enter the era of being dominated by Baoji Wan?

Yang Jianjun was too busy at the factory to take a leave, so this time, it was Li Guizhen who took care of him. After all, she was his mother, and seeing Yang Jiabo so sickly, she took good care of him. But her personality was like that, and she couldn’t help but nag.
